Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition unveiled

Ducati has unveiled the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition at the World Superbike Championship at Laguna Seca, California. This limited edition bikes marks a farewell to the Panigale 1299 series, which will soon be replaced by Ducati's new V4 flagship bike.

The Final Edition is powered by a 1,285 cc, L-twin Superquadro engine that churns out 207 BHP @ 11,000 rpm and 142 Nm of peak torque @ 9,000 rpm. Ducati claims that this engine on the Final Edition has been given a lighter crankshaft, a larger crank pin, tungsten balancing pads and titanium connecting roads. The two pistons, which have a 116 mm diameter, have just two segments and slide on steel cylinder liners. Transmission duties are handled by a 6 speed gearbox that comes with Ducati Quick Shift up/down (DQS).

The chassis used in the Final Edition model is similar to that of the Panigale R, which is a monocoque aluminium frame with Ohlins suspension. The front gets 43 mm fully adjustable up-side down forks, while the rear features a fully adjustable Ohlins TTX36 unit with adjustable linkage.

Electronic riding aid package offered with the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition includes Bosch Inertial Management Unit (IMU), Ducati Wheelie Control EVO (DWC EVO), Ducati Traction Control EVO (DTC EVO), cornering ABS and Engine Brake Control (EBC).
