EVs account for 19% of total global vehicle sales

Full-electric vehicle sales grew by 25% year-on-year in November 2023

According to a media report, EVs recorded 1,385,000 units of sales globally in November 2023, overtaking its previous sales record from September 2023. This meant, that global plug-in vehicle registrations represented 19% of the overall auto market numbers; of which BEVs alone accounted for 13%.

Reports also stated that full-electric vehicle sales grew by 25% year-on-year in November 2023 and represented 69% of all plug-in registrations. Plug-in hybrids performed even better, registering a 40% year-on-year increase compared to November 2022. PHEVs recorded 432,506 units in November 2023.

Coming to the top-selling plug-in electric vehicle, the Tesla Model Y is on top of the list, registering 115,192 units in November 2023, with the Model 3 in the third spot with 54,327 units of sales. Second on the list is the BYD Song whose BEV & PHEV variants together registered 63,416 units of sales. The BYD Seagull & BYD Dolphin complete the top 5 with 44,603 units and 41,346 units, respectively.

The top-3 on the November 2023 sales list also occupy the same positions in the year-to-date sales table. The Tesla Model Y, on top, registered 1,085,580 units of sales, almost double that of the BYD Song in second place.
