Facelifted Mahindra Bolero Flat Bed Pik Up launched in India

Mahindra & Mahindra, an Indian car and utility vehicle maker, has launched the facelifted version of the Bolero Flat Bed Pik Up. As its name suggests, the Bolero Pik Up is a pick up truck variant based on the Bolero body-on-ladder platform. The utility vehicle is available in a single cab body style. Through the facelift, Mahindra has incorporated the styling and design changes of the refreshed Bolero onto the flat bed, pick up truck. The pick up truck is priced at 5.58 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Indore. Over the next few weeks, Mahindra will launch the pick up truck at other locations across the country.

The launch of the facelifted Mahindra Pik Up coincides with the onset of the festive season, a time when many farmers across the country purchase new tractors, farm equipment and pick up trucks. Apart from the refreshed front end, the Bolero Pik Up comes with a couple of changes on the inside. Dual tone interiors and a new gear knob are the two major visual changes on the updated Bolero Pik Up. Also, the pick up truck comes with sliding and reclining fabric bucket seats fitted with head rests, a magazine pocket, mobile phone holder with charging point, electronic lock retractor (ELR) seat belts and washable floor mats.

An up-rated 2.5 liter direct injection-turbo diesel engine drives the rear wheels of the pick up truck by means of a 4 speed KMT90 manual gearbox. The BS3 version of the MDI 3200TC diesel motor outputs 62 Bhp of peak power and 195 Nm of peak torque, with the torque output going up by 15 Nm. The 2,523 cc turbo diesel engine is available with a Start-Stop system, a feature that is aimed at improving fuel efficiency and reducing tail pipe emissions. The Pik Up truck's BS3 variant is ARAI certified to deliver a mileage figure of 13.86 Kmpl while a 3 year/unlimited mileage warranty is standard on the engine and driveline. The Pik Up comes with a 10,000 Kms oil change interval and a 40,000 Kms gear oil change interval.

The 2013 Bolero Pik Up's loading bay (2540 mm x 1700 mm x 650 mm) is capable of hauling 1.250 kilograms of cargo, up from the previous rating of 1,180 kilograms. The up-rated engine's additional torque and the additional leaf springs on the rear suspension are two reasons for the revised payload of the pick up truck. The Bolero Pik Up truck will be built at three locations: Kandivali and Nasik in Maharashtra, and Zaheerabad in Andhra Pradesh. The Kandivali and Nasik factories will cater to markets in the western, eastern and northern parts of the country while the Zaheerabad facility will cater to the pick up truck demand emanating from down south.

The Bolero is the best selling MUV in India and is available in passenger carrying and load carrying versions. Shortly, Mahindra plans to introduce a CNG powered version of the 2013 Bolero Pik Up. CNG powered versions of the pre-facelift Bolero Pik Up are already available in the market. So, the introduction of the CNG version of the facelifted version of the Bolero Pik Up shouldn't take too long. Meanwhile, the pre-facelift models of the Bolero Pik Up will continue selling in India until stocks last.
