Google Maps has been updated with new features in India. It uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to alert drivers about flyovers and narrow roads.
Google Maps now has AI-based routing capability, which estimates the width of the roads. It alerts 4-wheeler drivers about an upcoming narrow road and suggests alternate routes to avoid the narrow section.
Google Maps now marks all the flyovers along the suggested route. This feature will assist the driver in staying in the correct lane while approaching the flyover, reducing the possibility of missing or taking a wrong exit. It is currently available in 40 cities.
Google Maps lists over 8,000 EV charging stations, including electric 2-wheeler chargers. The search feature allows users to filter by charger type and availability.
Users in Kochi and Chennai can book ONDC and Namma Yatri metro tickets using the app. Google is also working with local experts to compile a list of suggested locations in 10 cities and tourist destinations.
