Use case

Those who like to give a foam wash to their cars or bikes but don't have a pressure washer with foam lance OR someone who doesn't have access to a power socket for pressure washing.

Background

I have been fascinated with foam washing and all these yesteryears I couldn't foam wash my cars due to the constraints in my apartment car parking with no access to a power socket, and due to that I mainly never bought a pressure washer so far. Recently I came across a few videos of someone using a manual foam generator and I watched them a few times and enquired about it online. Went ahead and placed an order and the experience with delivery and interaction was very nice. I tried using it a few times in my apartment car parking and also during a recent trip to my hometown.

I searched about this product on the TBHP forum and couldn't find any posts/threads on this and thought of sharing this for the benefit of other forum members.

Frequently asked questions

Why not use the other garden sprays available at 500 INR? I came across a few videos in which people have modified garden sprays to generate foam, however, I realized that it's not a seamless experience and also the foam generated mostly is soapy water with very little foam. I wanted to use something which provides a decent and seamless foam. One additional advantage with the IK Foam Pro 2 is the foam thickness can be controlled by using the different nozzles that come with it and can get thick/semi-thick/liquid type foam based on our needs. This particular product, IK Foam Pro 2, is being used by people in many countries for detailing their cars, even professional detailers are using it. Hence I thought even long term durability shouldn't be a concern.

Observed the following benefits

  • One fill is sufficient for a foam wash for a big car like Fortuner.
  • IK Foam generator can provide foam with less car wash shampoo, compared to the shampoo needed in a foam lance.
  • Was happy with the foam quality even with a regular car wash shampoo. I may get better results with those custom foam wash shampoos, however, I haven't tried them yet.
  • Easy to carry around and doesn't take much space like a pressure washer.

Weakness or concerns

  • Need to pump it multiple times to cover the entire car, and can be a good workout for your hands. In general, one full pump session can generate foam for one car panel.
  • Seems pricey, with import duty and taxes mainly. Also pricey compared to similar looking products labelled as garden sprays. Most of the foam generator accessories for Pressure washers are also expensive.
  • This cant beat the foam experience of Pressure washers, however, I feel it's a very good alternative for people with no access to pressure washers.
  • Have used it a few times, hope that long term durability won't be an issue.
