Thanks to BHPian RavenAvi for sharing this with other enthusiasts.

According to a leaked document, the Mahindra XUV500 BS6 will be offered with a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that will feature a few modifications to comply with the new emission regulations.

The XUV500 BS6 will come with a 2-way Oxidation Catalyst, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).

2-way Oxidation Catalyst is used to treat hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide. SCR reduces NOx emissions from the exhaust using a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). According to the document, 2 litres of DEF is consumed per 1,000 km. It will be refilled during scheduled service through the DEF filler neck provided in the engine compartment. The cost of DEF is Rs. 50 / litre.

The XUV500 BS6 will have a DEF indicator lamp in the instrument cluster. Users will also receive alerts related to the SCR system in the infotainment system.
