Mercedes-AMG Mythos PureSpeed Concept unveiled

We can expect it to bring forward the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 from the SL Roadster.

Last year, Mercedes-Benz introduced a new sub-brand called 'Mythos', offering low-volume & high-priced special models. Now, ahead of the 2024 Formula1 Monaco Grand Prix, Mercedes-AMG has debuted the first car under the Mythos Series, the PureSpeed.

The new Mercedes-AMG Mythos PureSpeed is based on the brand's latest SL Roadster, albeit with plenty of changes. The Mythos PureSpeed is offered as a two-seat speedster with a tiny aero screen replacing the windshield and the A-pillar. The PureSpeed also comes with an entirely new shark-inspired front end, which gets rid of the traditional AMG grille. The car also features F1-inspired halo-like rollover protection, while the flying buttresses behind the seats take inspiration from the 300 SLR - winner of the 1955 Mille Miglia.

In addition to this, the Mythos PureSpeed was unveiled in red, paying homage to the Mercedes which won the 1924 Targa Florio in Sicily, Italy. The winning Mercedes in that race had the number 10, which can also be seen on the PureSpeed.

Mercedes, though, is yet to confirm the powertrain details of the Mythos PureSpeed. Although, we can expect it to bring forward the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 from the SL Roadster.

The Mercedes-AMG Mythos PureSpeed will be limited to just 250 units, which, according to Mercedes, "will only be available to the most dedicated Mercedes‑Benz enthusiasts and collectors." The carmaker stated that the PureSpeed "embodies the pinnacle of exclusivity from Mercedes-Benz in the top segment."
