Ola Electric developing helmet detection system for EVs

TVS is also working on a similar camera-based helmet detection system for its 2-wheelers.

Ola Electric is reportedly working on a helmet detection system for electric 2-wheelers.

According to a media report, the helmet detection system uses a camera to detect if the rider is wearing a helmet. The information is sent to the Vehicle Control Unit and then over to the Motor Control Unit.

The vehicle will only switch to Ride mode after the system detects that the rider is wearing a helmet. Also, if the vehicle is already in Ride mode and if a helmet isn't detected by the system, it would automatically switch to Park mode. It is said that the system will also display a notification on the dash to remind the rider to wear a helmet.

Now, TVS is also working on a similar camera-based helmet detection system for its 2-wheelers. Besides this, the bike maker is said to be developing several rider safety systems, including advanced rider assistance systems and automatic braking systems.
