A proper first look at the Thar hardtop and rear seat

View Forum Discussion

The next generation Mahindra Thar is likely to be offered with a hard top option. These images of a test mule give us a closer look at the SUV's hard top and rear seat.

The spy images suggest that the Thar hard top is likely to get large rectangular windows on both sides and at the rear. It could get slide-to-open side windows. The test vehicle also has a front-facing rear seat. It appears to have fixed headrests. The rear seat belt is fixed to the C-pillar.

The new Thar is expected to be offered in 6-7 variants. It could be powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine producing 187 BHP and 380 Nm of torque. A 138 BHP 2.2-litre diesel unit could also be on offer. Transmission options might include an automatic and a 6-speed manual.
