BMW is reportedly planning to launch the X3 M40i in India. While the exact launch timeline is unclear, the carmaker is likely to import a few units via the CBU route.
Being a CBU, the X3 M40i will attract an import duty of 70%. This is as per the revised tax structure, which was raised from 60% on cars costing less than US$ 40,000 to 70%. Hence, we can expect the performance SUV to cost around Rs 1-1.10 crore (ex-showroom).
The BMW X3 M40i is powered by a 3.0-litre, turbocharged 6-cylinder engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, producing 355 BHP @ 5,200-6,500 rpm and 500 Nm @ 1,900-5,000 rpm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive system. The X3 M40i is claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h.
On the outside, the X3 M40i features a distinct look with its sporty body kit. It has a different front bumper with larger vents, dual-tone alloy wheels and a sporty rear bumper with dual exhaust tips.
