Rumour: Toyota Hilux pickup truck to be launched in Jan 2022

The Hilux shares its underpinnings with the Innova and Fortuner. It will compete with the Isuzu V-Cross.

According to a media report, Toyota is planning to launch the Hilux pickup truck in India in January 2022.

The Hilux shares its underpinnings with the Innova and Fortuner. Measuring 5,285 mm in length, the Hilux is longer than both models. The wheelbase has also been extended to 3,085 mm.

In India, the Hilux will be offered in a double-cab body style. It is expected to get a bold exterior design with a large hexagonal front grille flanked by swept-back headlamps featuring LED daytime running lights.

On the inside, the Hilux could get an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Reports suggest that the India-spec Hilux could get two diesel engine options. These include a 2.4-litre unit from the Innova, while higher variants could get the 2.8-litre motor from the Fortuner.
