Thailand: 2024 Honda City hatchback launched

Prices for the City hatchback start from THB 599,000 (approx. Rs 13.95 lakh)

Honda has launched the 2024 City hatchback in Thailand. The new hatchback is based on the same platform as the current-gen City Sedan.

The new 2024 Honda City hatchback is offered in 5 variants: Turbo S+, Turbo SV, Turbo RS, e:HEV SV and e:HEV RS. Prices for the City hatchback start from THB 599,000 (approx. Rs 13.95 lakh) and go up to THB 799,000 (approx. Rs 18.57 lakh).

In terms of design, the 2024 City hatchback features a tweaked front grille with a new mesh insert, revised front and rear bumpers, newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels, updated LED headlights & tail lights and dual-tone paint options for the higher variants. The RS trims also get additional sporty tweaks to the bumpers, a diffuser-like element at the rear and even a blacked-out lower apron.

Inside, the hatchback is identical to the City Sedan, carrying forward the same features, tech and layout. This includes features like a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity via wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rain-sensing wipers, walk-away auto lock/unlock, adaptive cruise control and Honda Sensing Suite (ADAS) with 2 additional features - Low-Speed Follow and Lead Car Departure Notification; among others.

The 2024 Honda City hatchback is available with two engine options. The first is a 1.0-litre turbocharged inline-3 VTEC engine producing 122 BHP and 173 Nm, paired with a CVT gearbox. The second is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder i-VTEC petrol unit paired with a hybrid setup. The hybrid powertrain comes with an e-CVT gearbox and offers three driving modes: EV, Hybrid & Engine.

With Honda India concentrating on SUVs and having recently launched the Elevate, it is highly unlikely the City hatchback will come to the Indian market.
