Volkswagen ID.4 unveiled in India ahead of launch

The Volkswagen ID.4 will compete with the Skoda Enyaq, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 in the Indian market.

Volkswagen India recently showcased the ID.4 electric SUV at the Annual Brand Conference. The EV is expected to be launched in India later this year.

The VW ID.4 is based on the MEB platform. Globally, the electric SUV is available in single and dual-motor configurations. The former is powered by a 58 kWh battery. The top-spec 'GTX' variant features a dual-motor setup powered by a 77 kWh battery. VW claims it can cover 480 km on a single charge.

We still don’t know which of these variants will be offered in India. That being said, ID.4 will be imported into the country via the CBU route, thus attracting higher import duties.
