re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

If I were Mahindra now, I would look at this closely and then with the acceptance of the BOLT and ZEST, come up with cars on similar lines but with bettering Tata in every department.

I just hope and pray that they have not compromised on the quality of plastics. I have always found Tata cars to be wanting in that area, even the much vaunted Aria.

that the TATA car's plastics are not so good in fit and finish. However they are quite durable. I can say this after 10 years of ownership. Plastic parts have not faded or cracked. In fact when I was hit by an Accent on my left side B pillar, both my left side doors were damaged. I had to replace the front door and get the rear door dented and painted. Such was the impact that the seat belt housing near B pillar cracked, but it did not fell apart.

Mahindra's using Marelli unit? Is this a recent development? M&M were talking to and had almost finalised a deal with Ricardo - maybe they have had second thoughts

re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

More pics from the #ZestDrive.
*Notice the difference in variant badge between pics 1 & 2 - XT & XMA
*Notice the difference in design of alloy wheel / wheel cover between pics 3 & 4
*Notice the difference in DRLs between pics 3 & 4 (Missing in pic 3)
*Pic 6 reveals silver Zest

Going by the same number plates in Pic 1 & 4, I think XT is the highest variant as it has alloy wheels & DRLs. This also explains the difference in screen size of infotainment as pointed out by fellow BHPians.

re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

This Zest in Blue color is really Drool material.
Never seen a compact sedan looking so good .
Will be interesting to watch how it is received by the market.

re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

If this is just the Zest drive can some one tell me when is the Bolt slated for launch ?

Only the zest is being covered in all the ads and I wonder when will Bolt come into picture.

Apparently Bolt will be released a month after Zest.

With Polo and punto rumored to be launched within this month I think this is the best time to bring in the bolt too.

Maybe TML wants to focus on one product launch at a time to avoid dilution of buyers interest which is a good move though.

re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

From the pictures, I suspect the AMT version is not going to be offered in the top-variant (with LED DRLs and alloy wheels with fewer spokes). I hope it comes with at least a driver airbag and ABS, though.

I also hope the picture of the rear seat posted above is one of the AMT version (i.e. not the top trim level). A rear centre armrest is missing in the picture, which is a must in this segment (as most competitors already have it).

re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

If only Tata Motors spent a fraction of the money and energy that they spend on marketing and media on real after-sales and service to real customers then they would stand a chance. As an example, in urban markets like Delhi and Mumbai, what is the reality of after-sales and service is something known to every owner of an automobile.

Nobody makes a bad car. But the life-cycle cost, the warranty effectiveness, the fuel economy - these are numbers which people crunch in their minds and then, at that juncture, fancy photographs from media who is there because of fine food and raiment is not really going to do it.

Other manufacturers have realised this, and I can only ask Tata Motors to do introspection, and see how customers are treated by Hyundai and Maruti, how existing high-usage (not high-end) customers are quietly provided forthcoming cars on total media blackout to test drive and run for a few days, and how genuine feedback is taken as a positive and not as a negative.
