Re: *Rumour* - Datsun Go Cross version coming up?

I agree with you. But for someone who needs to seldom carry 5 adults and an infant, I guess it'll work. These are introductory prices in Indonesia, where even the regular Go PLus retails for about 150 million Rp, so I think that the price in India would be in the vicinity of about 5.8 lacs ex-showroom for manual and about 6.5 Lacs for the CVT. I love the Go Plus as well, just no ABS and lack of 2nd Airbag was the factor because of which I didn't buy it. This has them both and more, maybe even a safer body cage to meet the upcoming crash test regulations in India. So, I may put my money on it, if launched at or near the above quoted prices. And these 5 adults plus infant is a rare occurrence, mostly it is 4 adults + infant, so fits my use.

Re: *Rumour* - Datsun Go Cross version coming up?

Carwale.com reports here (https://www.carwale.com/news/datsun-...suv-for-india/) that Datsun has confirmed an SUV under Rs.10 Lacs to be launched in India in the times to come.

*Rumour* - Datsun Go Cross version coming up?-4.jpg

- Datsun SUV to be priced under Rs 10 lakhs
- To be based on the CMF-A platform
- Go and Go+ facelift to be launched around the festive season
- Datsun to launch new model every six months after this festive season

In an effort to strengthen its foothold in India, Datsun will soon introduce new models and upgrades in the country. As part of expansion plans, Thomas Kuehl, President, Nissan India revealed that there will be a Datsun badged SUV which will be priced under Rs 10 lakhs. The upcoming SUV is expected to be based on the CMF-A platform, produced under the Renault-Nissan alliance.

Although Datsun chooses to remain tightlipped about the development, it is believed to be under four metres in length and will carry a crossover styling inspired from the Nexon. Reports further indicate that the Datsun SUV might be powered by a turbocharged version of the 1.0-litre petrol engine from the RediGo. We believe that the vehicle will be offered with standard safety features such as ABS with EBD and dual front airbags along with good quality upholstery.

Apart from the SUV, the company will be expanding its product portfolio every six months starting with the Go and the Go+ facelifts and a special edition of the Redigo hatchback. Interestingly, the upcoming Go and Go+ facelifts will get new features in the form of new touchscreen, new front seats, ABS and dual airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) or Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC).

Nissan India has lately not been in the news for any high profile launches nor is it quietly setting the market on fire with its current vehicles. But, according to Thomas Kuehl, president of Nissan India Operations, that's about to change in the coming months.

With a two-brand strategy (Datsun and Nissan), the Japanese manufacturer's Indian arm will have products that will cater to both the budget and premium segments, a couple of which will target the country's most popular SUVs, the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Creta.

Speaking about future SUVs, Mr Kuehl told Autocar India:

So, with our two brands, our strategy is to have Datsun cater to the sub-Rs 10 lakh mark, and you will see an SUV there. Nissan will play more in the premium field and the Kicks will launch in this fiscal.

The Kicks has been rumoured to launch in India since the SUV broke cover in the South American markets in May 2016. Despite the confirmation of arrival, the delay can be attributed to localisation efforts in order to make the price highly competitive. The model sold abroad measures 4,295 mm in length, 1,760 mm in width, 1,590 mm in height, has a 2,610 mm wheelbase and a 200 mm ground clearance. Since it's above 4 meters, the Kicks will have to contend with the Hyundai Creta.

It will be based on the fourteen-year-old B0/Logan platform that underpins the Renault Captur, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano, so expect the Kicks to offer the same engine options as well, which include a 1.5 dCi 4-cyl turbo diesel and a 1.5L H5K 4-cyl petrol. Transmission options could include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and CVT (exclusive to the petrol variant). It's unlikely Nissan will offer the Indian-spec Kicks with AWD.

As for the Datsun SUV, this is the first confirmation we've received of one being in the works. It is reported to be based on the redi-GO's CMF-A platform and measure under 4 meters, thus rivalling the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and the Tata Nexon. No diesel power is being planned for the Datsun SUV; instead, the chosen motor is reportedly the turbocharged version of the redi-GO's 1.0L 3-cyl petrol engine which will also power the Renault RBC sub-4m MPV.

The SUV will get only a single petrol engine option. This will be a turbocharged version of the 1.0-litre motor that currently powers the Datsun redi-GO. The SUV is said to be based on the CMF-A platform which has been jointly developed by Renault and Nissan. Nissan is using the Datsun brand name to launch their products under the Rs. 10 lakhs mark.

Re: *Rumour* - Datsun Go Cross version coming up?

Datsun Go Cross is to Go+ what the Honda BRV was to Mobilio - and it might just work in the Indian context.

They need a new name though - and discontinue the Go+ as well (like Honda did with the Mobilio), to prevent customers associated the "SUV" as the MPV version with added GC and claddings.

Datsun has showcased Cross special edition at Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2018. The Cross is the production model of Go-Cross Concept, which made its global debut at Tokyo Motor Show in 2015. Datsun Cross is based on Go Plus MPV but the Japanese manufacturer has made so many aesthetic changes to differentiate both models.

The special edition model showcased at GIIAS is finished in white colour with new sporty looking bumper and the company has also given new body graphics on side with Cross badging. The stock 15 inch alloy wheels have been replaced by new sporty looking wheels and the tyres are also different on show car. Datsun has also given a snorkel on left side and the tail lamps are blackened for sporty look.

The interior get some changes like all black theme along with leather upholstery. Datsun hasn't made any mechanical changes for Cross. The stock Cross comes with projector headlamps with LED DRLs integrated into it. The front grille is finished in black colour and fog lamps are placed below headlamp.

Datsun has given black cladding all around the body for SUV looks along with skid plates at front and rear. The Japanese manufacturer increased ground clearance by 30 mm compared to Go Plus and it will help Cross tackle bad terrain without scratching under belly. The Cross also comes with integrated spoiler and roof rails along with chrome exhaust tailpipe.
