Transfering Old VIP Number to New Car

Is this possible at all RTO or only at Delhi? I would like to do this at Pune RTO, has anyone tried it?

I am sure this is possible across all RTOs in the country. The difference being that it might only be done at the main RTO in your city/state, for example in Delhi this is done only at the Mall road branch regardless of your registration.

Best is to go to the dealership from where you wish to buy the new car. In my case, the Ford dealer did educate me regarding the basic process to follow and I figured out rest while doing it.

The new RC would be showing the older VIP number of your new ride and the new number on your old ride.

Also does the New RC for both cars mention both numbers on each of them?

Sorry for the confusion. Yes the new RC will show the VIP number on your new car and the new random number ( which the new car would have got at its time of registration) on your old car. They will only be mentioning the updated details i.e. only the new numbers and not older ones. Hope there is no confusion now.

Hi i have a query,
I have two cars one delhi registered (mom's car with vip number) and one haryana registered (dad's car), now i want to sell off my mom's car but want to retain the vip number of it and transfer it to my dad's car, i am open to transferring my dad's car to mom's name.
Will it be possible?

I bought i20 last Friday and currently have a temporary registration number on it. I'll get a permanent number for it by next weekend. My father has a 2005 Maruti Esteem, which has a valid fitness certificate and registration till 2026. It has a "VIP" number on it, which I want to transfer to my new car. Please tell me the process of doing so ?
