re: Tata Safari 2.2 - Life beyond 65k kms

Rahul,

Seems like a good job done by the TASS.

I hope the back door ratting has not been introduced.

How is the paint matching with the rest of the vehicle?

On a scale of 1-10 ill rate them 8 for the work done, but only after 1 month coz

1. need to see if paint suffers no bubles or etc.I can see specks of clearcoat drains like jammed pearls near the end of door, if visually seen carefully for now but not a showstopper at all.
2. locks dont jam for rear tailgate or related issue.
3. as you said rattling if doesnt come back. It was tiny rattle after my long trips as expected. since the nuts etc are fully screwed tight, i didnt hear any though.

Was your insurance policy the standard policy or was it the no-deduction policy?

Well the NIA Policy was a complete package policy.. I will stand to loose 20% NCB

I am not aware on the "standard policy or was it the no-deduction policy" ?
Please elaborate more on this

I hear that there are policies available whereby you pay a higher premium in return for a policy where you don't take any deduction (on plastics, etc) for claims. Apparently, Toyota is offering it for its Corolla in collaboration with Bajaj Allianz.

I think the normal policy on the insurers is that they deduct the salvage value of the parts as well unlike previously when they used to take the parts and sell it themselves. Now the onus of that is on the policy holder.

Cheers

Tirupati Trip

Feedback time about Tires

1. Better than bridge stone's. Tires seem to be loosing pressure 1-2 psi in 2 days.. need to get them checked for any valve leakages.

Trip to Tirupati

Booked ticket for accommodation online via ttdonline site. @ 500rs per room per day for 2 days

Well this trip broke my records of single day journey KM logged

1. Pune - Tirumala

20th April
Started @ 315Am with required breaks in between reached Tirumala sameday @ 2100 hrs.

2. Tirumala - Pune

Started 22nd April 0600Am with required breaks in between reached Tirumala sameday @ 23:50 hrs.

KMS: 1170KMS one way

Vehicle Performance: None except a loose idler arm nut (needs attention)

FE around 14KMPL

Cruising Speed: 90-100KMPH

Roads were a treat to drive for sure, but traffic discipline while coming back was damn pathetic (worse than the earlier 2 trips)

Thanks HVK for the via Devanhalli route.. it sure was a lovely drive.

Hi.

My vehicle has also crossed 40K, though in 3.5 years, however my BS tyres have (by my reckoning) atleast 40-50% life still left.

Did your tyres wear faster out due to the earlier (initial) problem?

Congrats! Seems the Bridgestones didnt even last 40k? Why was it so?
Mine would have lasted 50k but I didnt want to wait and changed at 45k.

Well sigh i would have loved them more albeit they were a little on the tougher side.. The tyres had developed cuts on the sidewalls and punctures were something i wasn't comfortable with: so to say.. so i changed them
Believe me.. they rock the rocks
