Suzy Blu: Some Utilitarian Modifications in Gypsy

I bought this gypsy MG410 in a very bad shape. It had cut dashboard, no carpeting, broken hard top but had header and rally suspension. First restored the basics had to put in lot of effort to find parts in Jaipur

Pic 1&2

The fairing for Left Headlamp is missing had thought of some modification in lights inspired by old Land Rover so left it like this when it had fallen off after once replacing it. Will keep with this set up only and put the fairing back.

Got this mount design from a friend for Aux Lamps and Radio Antenna. Its very light and compact.

Pic 3&4
Engine Kill switch and Switch Box from Hella for Aux Radiator Fan from Indica, Front Aux lam[s and Rear Aux Lamps. Also you can sight Incline meter

Pic 5
Switches from Hella for 2 pairs of Hella Horns and LED lights under the seats.

Pic 6
Heavy duty Cig lighter socket from xenos and audio system from Pioneer with USB and Aux in ports. Audio system has two 6" round in front and 2 oval in boxes in rear from Sony on a Custom made tray (Pic 7)

Pic 8
Custom made tow plate. Plate is from MM550. Have fixed Aux lamps for rear vision specially for times in wild. You can also sight the light from bolero for number plate on tail gate.

Pic 9 & 10
Ammunition box is permanently fitted in the floor but will repositioning it on the tray near the speakers with adding one more. this is padded inside to negate the sound of tools inside. Under the tray is provided a LED light.

Pic 11
Customized plate on the B pillar houses a 300 watt inverter, spike chord, switch for inverter, Reading lamp for rear passanger, a heavy duty cig lighter socket from xenos and a glove box. Navigator has a separate reading lamp.

Pic 12
Separate fuse box for all the electricals other than the OE. Not satisfied with the box electrician has put in but will replace it.

Pic 13
Four channel copper radiator for Desert summer and city driving.

All the relays on horns and lights are from Hella.

Re: Suzy Blu: Some Utilitarian Modifications in Gypsy

Also the reg number suggests its 2000 Model.
Should be a MG410W,not a MG410.

Yes its MG410W, my fault and its fitted with a MPFi motor. Thanks for correcting.

Now will get a winch, front rear bumpers, High Lift jack, mount for spare wheel on top of the hard top and will increase the fuel tank capacity. Will also be fitting an A/C earlier had one in my MG410 i had only front cabin soft hood which was insulated by heatlon and did perform well. Will be putting heatlon on the floor and on the partition between engine room and cabin. which will reduce heat, sound, vibration and sound.

Thanks for guidance. I was looking for such an option but could not.

I am amazed at people just pointing mistakes or what you missed which might not be relevant on the thread. I do take such things in a positive stride but also expected some nice suggestions and corrections on the pics of mods which i posted. That would have been wonderful as per the kind of forum this is.

Hope any of the tech gurus will come forward and suggest me something to incorporate, fine tune or add on the modifications.

Yes,its Ambala number, and i have seen another 2000 Model MG410W in Ambala with the same color,so i am pretty much sure, that this color was available, and MG410W was discontinued early 2000,so it has to be original

Re: Suzy Blu: Some Utilitarian Modifications in Gypsy

WMS, thanks for the reply. I look forward to the whereabouts of the inclinometer. Suzy Blu has once again stirred the bee in my bonnet.

I would suggest the following additions:

1. A car fridge - tropicool12 a
2. A gps/navigator
3. Petrol/jerry cans- if you can fit it on the sides nothing like it.

Re: Suzy Blu: Some Utilitarian Modifications in Gypsy

Whoa! That's one beat up Gypsy. If you brought it up to this level after a fair amount of work, i shudder to think of the condition when you bought it without going into the why. Love IS blind.

Reading the to-do list, its good you are bringing this up to form in a good way. I'm not sure how you would use it but it defn. needs a major clean up and basic TLC. I love this color and matched up against a white is beautiful but you have some waaay to go in bringing her to good shape.

Not sure where in Delhi you live, but you can get one of these in Palika Bhawan in Bhikaji Cama Place and defn. in Karol Bagh. Actually, loads of shops in Ggaon also have this.

Whiteknight thanks for the info. I scoured Palika Bhavan the other day, the keepers could not make head or tail out of it. Live in Vasant Kunj, so will definitely try Karol Bagh and Gurgaon. any particular shops?

I have a Garmin GPS76csx and and MMI navigator for navigation. I prefer Coleman cool boxes over fridge i have two of them for my car one small one which i keep near the front seats and one big one for stocking up in the rear. As for the jerry cans i have one but permanent fitting has to be done. Thanks for suggestions.
