Thanks DI, my heart is set on the Adv, and I want to buy the fiat for keeps, like owning a peice of history, concern is will owning a 2002 Adv make, have a lot of month left at the end of the money.

I intend to use the Adv 70 / 30 highway city usage, and out of town trips.
and the 1.2 may be underpowered or so I feel.

Anyways I wil be chasing the adv.......just the pricing has to fit.

With 70% highway usage, you should look at no other car apart from Adventure. Once you get used to the carpet ride, you will be addicted. I am prepared to have lesser FE by having the minimal tyre pressure (29 psi) to have this smooth ride.

Thinking about a used Adventure

In search of a perfect touring machine, i have come across a used Adventure(2002) this has done about 48k kms, and the price is 1.4lacs

Any pointers on what might go wrong(keeping the kms run in mind) and also what and all have to be checked?

Any good Fiat mech who can be consulted to do a check on it?

Also if an Adventure guru's out here can accompany me when i got to see the car

Lastly is it sensible to pick a 2002 Adventure which has run about 48k, this is for touring...will it be reliable??

Buy it man. Palio 1.6/Adventure/S10 are the best VFM in the used car market. Try negotiating for price reduction.

If the car is in Bangalore, I would suggest that you take it to Green Tracks on Hosur road and ask them for a checkup and inputs on what needs immediate/long term attention. Would cost you just 200 bucks. I did that when I bought my S10.

Best of luck man. Let me know if you need any help. I can come to Green Tracks on weekend as it is very close to my home.

Is it the 1.9D or the 1.6P?It might be difficult body parts.Regarding the engines the 1.9D has been discontinued and the 1.6P is still available in the Stile. Both the engines are quite reliable.Get it checked at a reliable workshop.

The checklist, make it comprehensive. The spares are very costly. I got to know yesterday that the alluminium footboard in the adventure costs 18K, talk about costs :(

Just do it. Areas to check:
1. Front suspension & tyre wear. The very first lot of Adventures had a problem with the front struts & this was replaced by Fiat FOC. I faced this on my car.
2. Brake pad wear & the front disks.

Thats it. I have not faced any other abnormal (routine maintenance apart) problems in my 80K kms on the Adventure.
