Hey Montoya

Congrats man!!! Nice choice with the Optra though I dont think the 1.8 is worth it when the 1.6 offers pretty much the same driving experience albeit without the bells and whistles.

IMHO the Corolla is just not worth the price.

Just a thought on the WTCC Optra - is it just me, or is the front wheel-well HUGELY GROTESQUE??! I thought that the front end of the wheeel well could have bee a lot more wheel-hugging. Otherwise, I think that the car looks great...

I'm sure they must have done it on purpose. Looks bad but, race cars aren't about looks. Lap time over anything.

Hey SS and GTO thanx,

Well cars had stock tyres, i agree the car is built to a price and feels so as well..

GTO since i am inclined towards the bells planing a 1.8LT as has such features unheard at that price.. and i hardly found anyfault in it

Best thing though is the service 1st @ 1000 2nd @ 10000 and some serive holiday as well in which you dont have to pay anything plus the same toyota insurance planing today i came to know why GM is no1 world wide..

Sat in it and drove it too. Didn't find anything amuzing.

I test drove the Optra on the same road and on the same day as the Corolla test drive and found that the Corolla rode that stretch better.

The Corolla doesn't handle as well but, the Optra lacks that sheer surge of power.

Space wise, i don't think there's much diff between the 2.

The Skoda i feel, has a better combination of both. Yeah it's a bit cramped at the back but hey, i drive a Vtec which takes rear seat crampness to a completely diff level.

The Elantra had amazing ride quality but, lacked everything else.

I think people voted for the car that they thought was good (WRT to their wants and needs).

Hey Monty
First off, Congrats. Optra is a sensible choice and is a true gentleman's car. I am shocked to see that you had a bad experience with the Corolla test drive. This incident should be a case study for Toyota dealers on how not to lose a customer.

The reason Korean cars dont get the vote of car enthusiasts is because they score above average in everything but dont excel in anything. Ultimately they win by the law of averages.

Hey RJK, Shan and Mpower,

Firstly that car is very very less korean imho.. its more german.. it has its wipers on the right and lights on the left which i will have to now adjust to plus reverse is lift and shuft in first.. somewhat seen in germans.. fuel lid is on the right just like german cars.. anywayz i have been told by toyota dealers that the car which i got for test drive was defective..

anywayz had it not been the defect i had already zeroed down on the corolla and was going to book it without even considering the Optra..

Power is nothing without control..

p.s does the Optra need mirror locks..??

I never chose the Corolla. I chose the Skoda (which has power and control).
