2015 Ford Endeavour imported to India for R&D

Ford is gearing up to launch the 2015 Endeavour in India. While the North American car maker hasn't specified a launch time frame, multiple units of the Endeavour have been imported in India for R&D purposes.

Recently, the specifications of the new Endeavour were leaked. According to the leak, the 3.2-liter diesel is the range topping motor and develops 197 BHP/470 NM. Other engine options include a 2.0-liter Ecoboost petrol and a 2.2-liter diesel. As per the details provided by Zauba, the SUV has been imported from Thailand. Only the diesel variants in both automatic and manual avatars have been shipped in. The current Endeavour is offered with a 2.5-liter diesel engine (manual 4x2) and a 3.0-liter diesel (manual 4x4 and automatic 4x2).

The primary rivals for the new Endeavour will be the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Toyota Fortuner. Prices may start at a premium of around Rs. 1-1.8 Lakh over the outgoing model. While media reports suggest the launch will take place towards the end of 2015, Ford India may choose to launch the new Figo this year and debut the new Endeavour next year - around the time of the 2016 Delhi auto expo.
