Jaguar-Land Rover, a British luxury car and SUV marque owned by Tata Motors, has just launched the F-Type sportscar in India. The F-Type is Jaguar's second sportscar line, after the XKR series that comes in coupe and convertible guises. The coupe version of the F-Type is in the works and is expected to see a global launch shortly. In India, the F-Type convertible sportscar will be aimed at buyers whose other options are the likes of the Porsche Boxster and the Cayman S.
The two seater car comes with three petrol engines internationally. For India though, Jaguar has launched the F-Type with two engine options: a 3 liter V6 and a 5 liter V8. Both motors are supercharged, with the V6 engine outputting 380 PS of peak power while the V8 outputs 495 PS. Both engines are mated to a 8 speed automatic gearbox, with a quick shift feature as standard. Also, high compression, direct injection and variable camshaft timing are standard on both the engines.
The V6 engined model is called the F-Type S while the V8 engined model gets the V8S badge. The V6 engined Jaguar F-Type will hit the 100 Kph mark from standstill in 4.9 seconds, with the V8S version bettering the former timing by 0.6 seconds. Top speeds for the V6 and V8S are 275 Kph and 300 Kph respectively. The car is imported into the country through the completely built unit (CBU) route, and will be sold through all Jaguar-Land Rover dealerships across India.
The F-Type's feature set includes the fuel economy boosting-emission cutting active start-stop system, an active exhaust that modulates the exhaust note depending on the throttle position, launch control for track use, limited slip differential (for the S model), electronic differential (for the V8S model), Jaguar Adaptive Dynamics Suspension and an all-aluminum body shell.
Leather wrapped interiors, a Meridian stereo system and an LCD infotainment module are standard items in the asymmetric, driver focused cockpit. Safety features such as ABS, EBD, ESP, Airbags and Traction Control are also standard on all variants of the F-Type sportscar. Meanwhile, here are the prices of the F-Type's two variants that have just been launched in India.
Jaguar F-Type V6S: 1.37 Crore Rupees
Jaguar F-Type V8S: 1.61 Crore Rupees
Both prices reflect ex-showroom Mumbai figures, pre-octroi.
