Audi has started testing the next-generation A4 sedan in India. The car is likely to make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, later this year.

The new A4 gets redesigned headlamp clusters with LED daytime running lights and projectors, a new front bumper and a tweaked grille. At the rear is a pair of restyled tail lamp clusters, two exhaust pipes and a boot lid with an integrated spoiler. The car also gets redesigned door mirrors, and new alloy wheels.

Previous images have shown that the interiors of the A4 feature a reworked instrument cluster and dashboard cowl. The MMI display is a tablet that sticks out of the dashboard and the centre console gear selector are new as well.

Engine options for the A4 are expected to include 1.4-litre, 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre TFSI petrol units, along with 1.6 and 2.0-litre diesel engines.

The A4 will compete against the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and BMW 3-Series. More information on the car is awaited.
