Tata Motors Zest petrol AMT spied

Tata Motors has once again started running test mules of the recently launched Zest compact sedan on the roads. This time, the company is testing what is believed to be, an AMT-equipped version of the petrol-powered Zest.

The Zest petrol is the only sub-4 meter petrol sedan without an automatic transmission option.  Since the car is such an important product for Tata Motors, the company cannot afford to leave any stone unturned to ensure its success. The AMT-equipped Zest diesel has received a strong market response. The AMT gearbox makes the car much easier to drive, especially in heavy traffic. Compared to a conventional automatic gearbox, it is less expensive. Using it in the petrol car will certainly broaden its appeal.

The Zest petrol uses a new 1.2-litre powerplant from Tata's new Revotron engine family. It produces 89 bhp and 140 Nm of torque.

There is no information from the company about the launch of the car.
