| ![]() Not in any order but the challenges: Slush pit Most amazing and awe inspiring. Though if you kept your wits about not really an "un-do-able" challenge. Initial plan was: ![]() The view of one of the three straights ![]() To this we added a sharp left ninety degree approach turn at start and a ninety degree left at the end as is show here ![]() And we do mean slush..... ![]() ....with deep wading..... ![]() ....which went on and on....!!! ![]() Some of many views captured by enthusiastic spectators: ![]() ![]() A overly quick entry meant that this Jonga went over the edge on the other side of ninety left and got beached. A phobia from getting stuck in mud and slush being wrongly overcome with a rush rather than controlled drive ![]() This XTrail was part of SUV brigade that did few of the designated "SUV" friendly challenges. Though Sandeep Kwatra was able to do this first time around his daughter, who was also competing very enthusiastically, attempted in some what similar fashion as the Jonga and ended up harming the bumper. Sandeep went on to win the SUV category. ![]() |

| ![]() More about Anu and Anjali. The duo were driving a Gurkha and with great aplomb. Here they are taking the second left turn of the slush pit ![]() And then trying their best to come out at the end with tight turn and lots of wheel spin conspiring against them: ![]() While the duo were busy inside the vehicle look at the husbands standing outside and concern reflecting on their faces: ![]() But the best part of 4 Guna 4 was that it was complete family enjoyment. Watch the kids going ""OOooouuuu" at their antics: ![]() |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() Seems like it was Fabulous event.. Allan was all praises. Very unique looking vehicles too. If only some of us from Bombay / Pune could attend :( Kudos to the organizers! Next year I guess.. Quote:
Not to mention the high levels of expectations that one has from the Jonga which adds to all the performance anxiety. I'm still trying to hone my skills with the beast. Cheers!! Prasad (Also a Jonga owner)

| ![]() Challenge : Log Crossing Two pits were dug a a angle to each other. Schematically they looked like this: ![]() The challenge was simple. Get your vehicle across the pits in minimum time. The ticking clock had to be balanced with precision of placing "logs" properly. Only two logs were provided and they were on the second pit as the prior competitor would have used the logs to cross the second pit and left them there: ![]() So you had to haul the logs - they were heavy enough for two people to barely manage - and then place them parallel to each other across the first ditch. Careful alignment meant both driver and co-driver had to on the task: ![]() Usually the co-driver would be standing outside guiding the driver with hand signals during the crossing. The logs were not wide enough. Tyres were wider so they had to be centered. Gaurav Gill gingerly doing the log walk: ![]() For those who were in a hurry or the coordination between driver and navigator was lax this was the result....leading to a call for the JCB Uncle to come to rescue: ![]() |

I just love them, esp when you have raging rivers gushing below ![]() BTW, I remember, the log section last time was tougher.

| ![]() @headers : If you still complete without outside help you get your time as penalties. @tsk1979 : Nope. Last time it was one log only. This time both tyre's had to be on "logs" and two pits to cross. And you could not hurry through even when you know the clock is ticking. Wish we could get a raging river also in to the picture - may be with more sponsorship money from you we could do an artificial raging river by re-circulating water???!! BUT the deeper pit did have water seeped in to it 8-) Last edited by sudev : 13th October 2011 at 10:30. |

BHPian | ![]() aha, the log crossing nice obstacle, very very dangerously done by my friend bobby shall write a report about the event after sudev is done with his part about all the obstacles about this particular obstacle , loved how the xtrail team did it with one women in it, she gave it her all missed out on watching the all woman team do this by the way, this was not a log crossing, rather a heavy I section beam crossing, took alot of strength and stamina |

| ![]() @xtreme_power : Do you seriously think logs would have been lighter? While I beams are denser they also take much smaller section to take the load. Last year we used actual logs and found that they have to be much thicker and difficult to handle. |

Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() Just awesome. Love the pictures and can imagine the effort & preparation that must have gone into the event. The diversity & range of vehicles is just awesome. Looks like 4x4 modification scene in India is finally kicking off. Would be a treat to watch such beautiful vehicles in action. Would it be possible to give a lowdown on most (if not all) vehicles, who, what, how they performed etc. Am sure this will become a premier 4x4 event in the Indian offroad calendar. |
