If you listen to thier comments and safety standards, equipment, engines that they use, in Alaska or USA then we need to see what TATAs are providing our truckers with. Example, the wooden frame in the TATA trucks v.s. the Steel frame/ cabin for their trucks in the US.
Donot start the blame game on suppliers without a check. TATA and other supply pre-fabricated cabins, loading bays, etc. Options include power steering, air conditioning etc.

But the economics do not work as they are slapped with excise duty on finished product. So most truckers operators buy bare chassis and get the superstructure built from outside workshops using wood and nails. This saves them on taxes. Drivers are not owners so they have not much say in the matter.

Going a bit OT here:
The economics also play a major part in decision on spare parts. The cheapest wins here and safety compromised. Should we be surprised? Heck no. Why? Simply because we also do the same in our everyday life. How many of us really shell out a few rupees extra for a ISI marked product? Think about your last purchase decision where bucks won over quality standard? Does your computer/electronic gadget have IS specs plug?.....Ah This could go on and on.

Watch the entire India adventure, then comment. Whatever you have quoted is from the mouth of Rick and the team doing analysis on the turcks. I have not commented on the trucks, the outsiders have. Infact if you read the entire thread carefully, carefully, you will see that I was not too amused to hear what these foreign truckers had to say about India and its people ot their trucks. Yeah your knowledge about TATAs spares is good, but there are other ways to show that.

Yeah so get to compromise with their lives. Life is cheap, period.

I am also excited to see the next episode , the preview showed that lisa in trouble and typical mob mentality.

After seeing the show did i realize how unsafe its to drive on Indian highway

My driver who use to drive truck earlier on the same roads is also following the series very religiously. And his view are that these are the most difficult road to drive on but he say that Tata 1613TC is good chassis and in not underpowered

I also excited, as the Lisa's Spotter is also not with her. As she suspect that her Spotter is treating her as his GirlFriend

I don't think so. Aggressive, that he is.

Have you seen the part that he is fighting with a flatbed truck wala that was transporting M3.

Mmm... isnt this Season 5 of IRT?

.
Yikes! I was giving the title wrong! The current one is "IRT Deadliest road" as in the youtube video! Got it. I was trying with "ice road truckers"!

Re: Ice Road Truckers Deadliest Roads (India)

Saw the final episode. Its uploaded to torrents sites. Google will help.

On the whole, you can very well make out things that have been staged for the right 'masala'.

One thing that really stands out is the way Rick's spotter leaves him; whats with him telling Rick that the traffic is now Ricks problem and not long his. Very unreal.

Next is the episode where they take the statue of Kali. They get a guy in a 'typical indian' dress but having the right accent!

And then there was the bridge crossing - they had focussed only on one side when there was enough space on the other side!

But I am sure the traffic jams, the swearing and the risks are as real as they get.

And since this is not a tourism promotional show, did not find it all too bad that they chose to focus only on the less developed part and only show a particular part of the society. The only time they showed a "good" car was one on a flatbed!
