Mumbai Mega OTR - April 10,11(Alibaugh)

First of all, sorry that i have been away from the 4wheeling scene for a while, mainly because of lent, and finally ends this weekend on easter.

Have been in talks with Dr. Mohan and we have decided to have a mega otr on 11th april in alibaugh
the course is very technical invloving sand and slush and lots of climbs.
river crossings also to included i think

the plan is to leave saturday evening and camp at alibaugh,
no night otr just camping with loads of fun.
we will carry all are needs like food , water , plastics etc ourselves , obviously distributed among us all.

Sunday the entire day will be hardcore offroading with lunch and shall wrap around evening.

putting this up early so all you offroaders can keep your dates free

regards,
Allan

NOW OPENING: Alibag OTR on 10th and 11th April.

Hello,
Its been a long time we hadnt got together in a proper OTR style.
For that matter we haven't met the Pune group for a long time now.
So Planning to put up a MEGA OTR at Alibag on the 10th and 11 th April.

Tejas has agreed to help me in the reccee and finalizing the track.

PLAN A: Evening touch down at Alibag ,stay on the beach, have dhaamal and get ready at 7:00 am the next day for the OTR.

PLAN B: Come directly for the OTR on Sunday.

In Plan A it is possible to do a night OTR(Short) through a jungle (Not Phansad Sanctuary).

The obstacles in the trail would be technical and would have 2 options(Like at Sawarsai )where each obstacle has also an easy way out.

There will also be a track within a track which would be difficult and it would be optional for individuals.

Discussed with Tejas and Allan,to make the OTR all the more fun we would designate marks for each obstacle and know the highest scorer at the end of the OTR.

So get your machines ready as you will have to beat the terrain and the competition too.

Please start confirming(even the guests coming with you).

@Danny and Guys ...Long time no see, where are you?
@James- Brother you have to be around, would need your help.
@Ibrahim and Dev=the fun quotient, have to be around.
@Soumya you cant be AWOL on that day.
@Jay- got enough leaves to smoke around here.
@GS-get your Gypsy on the playground, enough pampering it in the garage.
@Imran/desmo--I know for sure you guys would be around.
@Pinkybhai-gOrkha has to be there.
ALL THE REST= please let us meet again.

Mohan, Iam really looking forward to this OTR. Should be fun!!

Can you post some pics of the technical obstacles? Plus how have you identified tracks based on difficulty?

How would be the guys graded?
  • Number of attempts?
  • safe driving?
  • recovery?
  • team effort?
Will the track be vehicle specific as you were suggesting? If yes it would be interesting!!

When is the recee? If it is already done then please post pics

All the best for this mega event!!

@ Vinod
No this is a general trail.
The point system grading etc is left to Tejas and Allan. They may even do away with it.
The Vehicle specific tract is proposed at another place called Karjat.

Mumbai OTR.APRIL 10th /11th.

Scouted along with my friends today and found a good track in the vicinity.

The area is peaceful, uninhabited and provides everything for an offroading enthusiast.

We have slush ,climbs ,ruts --plenty of them,so many that we will fall short of time.

Water crossing if we get time . That too is available.

If anyone is interested in boating or swimming or diving ,that too is possible.

The Sunday OTR is hence not a problem.

However booking my friend's(Samarth's) sea-side shack for Saturday night is a problem as there is no definite confirmation.I will need confirmation by Wednesday maximum.
Or else we can skip the night halt totally and do the OTR only.
Posting a few pics for reference only.
These pics do not in any way describe the terrain totally.
BTW the lake cant be forded, its 30 feet deep.

Hey, the place looks pretty good!

I mostly will be coming only in the morning, on Sunday.
That patch of zig-zag roads does look like fun!

Can't wait to bring the gypsy here Doctor Mohan!

Sorry for the late reply. I have been in touch with mohan since day 1.

Anyways, i will be going there on saturday morning itself to help mohan mark out the trail properly and put up markers so that late comers can guide themselves in. Of course there is going to be a surprise for all participants as well. So don't miss this event. Trust me. Can't say anymore.

@ Mohan: can you please put up approx cost it will be (per head) for the night accommodation and food. We don't want a repeat of what happened at lonavla.
Also, please tell us any other cost you incur, we will chip in.

@Gogi, i guess your's is the only hurricane powered jeep. Don't ditch!

@motocamp, leave early and beat the heat.

@david, you can come with us as well even if prashant is not coming

Others please start confirming.

Saturday + Sunday:
1. Allan
2. Mohan
3. Ibrahim
4. Alok
5. Tejas

Sunday
1. Imran
2. Tejas' friend

youll doctor's really have lots of free time, makes me want to rethink my profession, anyone willing for a swap

but on a very serious not , dr. mohan this time i want you to make note of all expenses, inorder that everything be shared equally, its not a request, its more of a humble order, (its just not fair)

tejas this otr will give us time to finally catch up as well

gogi , i drop by your place every evening, ill buzz you, dying to see your jeep

where on earth is gto, dying to see him in action as well.

Dr. Mohan, if renting the place is a problem, we can all carry mats and odomas and actually just camp it out, somewhere near the beach where i met your for the first time in alibaugh, there might be slush around the vicinity as well.

once we get this sorted, lets finalise the list as to who should carry what as well

regards
Allan

3. Ibrahim
