Offroading Recce -Bande Basappana Doddi, Off Kanakapura

3 Gypsies and two jeeps laden with full of anxiety to find new trail - Arkavathy river bed between Ramanagara and Kanakapura gone bust. This river was assumed to be dry and offer sand driving. We see the river bed is full of high growth of weeds and flowing water. At one corner of the mind, we were disappointed at futility. On the other note, were happy to see Arkavathy is not dry as used to be.

MP Sreenivasan, suggested we proceed to Jungle ride near Maralavadi, about 20 kms from Kanakapura. We started off appreciating the green all around. One side the rocky terrain and on the otherside green coconut plantations. About 6 kms before Kanakapura we noticed a wide hill range and we thought of exploring for short run. Place is called Bande Bassappana Doddi. MP sreenivasan and me went on foot to find entry on to the rocks. Found it and then we had gala time offroading. Now I leave the others and pictures to speak.

Pictures follow.

Sam, it belongs to Subbaiah, Director of Lamda freewheeling hub manufacturer. The winch is hydraulic and inhouse R&D. It was tested successfully for functionality on the OTR.

Wolfji, it is a recce or scouting event, they have to ensure very limited participation. I didn't go despite knowing about the event.

Vehicle Killer - if not done carefully. We still need number of recees to finalyze the track. This terrain has lot of potential.

PS: I replied your PM your Inbox seems to be full. Do let me know if you haven't got it.

Thanks

Vehicle killer??!!!!

I am glad the terrain has potential but what about us mortals with car like GC are to do in a vehicle killer terrain, emery our bellies??? Hehe just kidding...

The terrain looks very interesting, looks rock biased but Im sure there is more to it than just that. If it rains the rock surface might get way too slick to be conquered hence we might wana do it on a relatively drier day...but that would mean no slush bogging.

Experts throw more light...

Actually everybody schemed up to ensure that Dwarak changed the body, Sidhu as usual was not listening.

We need to explore further, to ensure that its ok for everyone and then a proper OTR can be planned, this was just an exploration run and i think we see some major potential.
