Prateesh,

Is it advisable to install an oil cooler in a XD3P which originally didn't come with a oil cooler from the factory?

How effective would it be in % (roughly), should I install it ?

There are two or more capacity of cooler tanks that the oil cooler fits on, kindly elaborate on this.

The complete kit required is available with the dealer here and should cost about 5K, awaiting your input.
Regards,

Regards,
The factory ones having oil cooler are rated at 4500 RPM as compared to the former rating of 4000 RPM. Oil cooler was specified because of the higher RPM resulting in excess Thermal load in the oil films developed during lubrication (oil thins after getting heated up). So, I would suggest not to do anything to the engine you have on your Lynx. From 4000 to 4500 setting you get additional power of 3.5 BHP.

In your case, difference will not be much discernible.

Did not get this.

The XD3P / Army ones are 12 plate type, I think you are telling about the latest gen oil cooler types which are slightly bigger, I will update both part nos. here soon. Let me check.

Spike,

Good Morning,

Yes the thats the one, though I have never seen it fitted on any engine.

This latest, NG oil cooler...what engine did it come on?
If it is swapped with the older type cooler it should be more affective due to the extra plates in it and capacity?

OT: In %, how much will the radiator shroud effect in cooling?
Since I am using the Max pick up and Marshall type radiator...did it come with an OEM radiator shroud?
Thanks and Regards,

Here it is - Prowler ' THE POCKET ROCKET '. Hit or Miss?-1.jpg

It comes in most of the CRDe models present now (including Thar).

Theoretically yes, but never tried this.

Depending on propriety of other factors anything between 5-10 Deg C.
The same radiator does duty in some models with a shroud but gets away in Maxx Pick up models with a good margin. This change was implemented on these models from June 2009 onwards as a Value Engineering proposal. Hope this helps.

Dr.Jon Jai JEEP , how is your transplant coming.

Dont worry about fitting an oil cooler , sd25 does not suffer from constipation like the V8 engines .

Re: Prowler ' THE POCKET ROCKET '. Hit or Miss?

Got a new oil cooler and water pump ;-). Conversion plate need some pampering to slot the top gear fully. Fly wheel is thinner than XD3P and the depth of the assembly has to be modified. Starter motor teeth in the flywheel is different since I want my XD3P motor to be there, thats because the spares of the XD3P's starter motor is easier to get. Work going on, need a lots of patience.

Re: Prowler ' THE POCKET ROCKET '. Hit or Miss?

Ok...Back again. Facing a problem. In my previous xd3p the water pump was on the top of the engine, in the SD25 its much lower. The problem is the fan is reaching only half of the radiators height. I can't lower the radiator for many reasons. Iam planning to remove the engines fan and put an electric fan, but for that the space is not enough between the engine and radiator. Moving the radiator forward to the max is not enough. So, thinking about the possibility of fixing an aluminum radiator which is very thin and fix a electric fan. Will this work out? Or any other suggestions please. Thanks.

Re: Prowler ' THE POCKET ROCKET '. Hit or Miss?

Doc, Aluminum radiator - the heavy duty one of Max Pickup is good i believe..Let us know the outsome.

If going for electric fan - go for the 2 stage fan found in Skoda, Fiat Palio, etc.. A non fan belt setup would help reduce load on the engine too!

A little OT:
Do you want to Turbo charge the XD3P?

Now that you've experienced a THAR CRDe, why not try and fit THAT engine in the Prowler?

A 2 stage fan is a fan with a low and high speed to increase the flow of air through the radiator. There are 2 speeds available and the speed trigger can be done by either a sensor [thermostat] or a switch!!
