Does anyone knows about offroad events in Jaipur?
I'll be organising one very soon! I'll get in touch with you tomorrow.

Is that because of the desert heat? Because I have heard you have excellent roads between Jaipur & Delhi. Then it should be done in night. And yes, the 550/540 definitely has much better ride than SWB.

I'll contribute that not to heat but corolla altis he drives. First time I drove my jeep I got a rude shock. I approached a speedbreaker that I don't care for in my car. Thought jeep could do it better and took it at even higher speed. I still remember the jolt I got. Jumped so high almost touched the roof.
Between delhi-jaipur road is sure excellent. But on a jeep those 240 kms just drag by refusing to finish.

cheers

You are very right. Delhi- Jaipur is a peice of cake. We did it for the Jeep and willy rally with 3 Jeeps in tow. Any jeep is good condition will do that easily.

This speed breaker incidence is really funny.. lol. But don't we buy a jeep for that rough and tough thing only. As you have said very correctly "At the end of it buy whatever your heart says, It's not a logical decision anyway to buy a jeep so why look for a logical choice."

One question about MM Classic, as per my short exposure to 4x4, I have observed that MM classic struggles a lot in compare to other jeeps in clearing difficult obstacle. Is it just me or others also feel same.

What? That is totally not possible. MM Classic (4.88:1) being a SWB, has an edge over MM540/550, but not over non-classic 340 (5.38:1).

Apart from the model (& condition) of the jeep, tyres and most importantly the Man behind the steering makes the difference. So if the observation is based on only one OTR, then be careful not to generalize it

Thanks Samurai and Kandisa.. Just clearing my doubts.. Co-incidentally just found this beauty for sale in another garage not so far.

A 95 MM classic, with original Puegeot engine, original 4x4, new tires, new battery, 4 speed gearbox. Good original condition, original paint, only touches, done 46000 kms, no immediate expense needed. Says first party transfer. Asking 140K but says will be around 1.25 lakhs finally, I offered 1.10 Lakhs on the spot.

Ym-enjn

If that is a Classic and in good condition I would buy for 1.25L. Before buying get it all checked by a mechanic you know.

Do change that front bull bar and move those spotlights a bit lower (closer to front fender).

It is not a Classic, it is a regular CL340. The Classic came out in the later part of 1996.

Hey Sharath,
I too happened to see that this is a CL340. What you have is a CJ340 and was there even a CL340? Now, that is something i did not know at all.
How different is this CL340 from your CJ340?
Cheers,
Deepak

Pardon me for being ignorant

But is this a classic or a CL340? OR is 'CL340' a code name for the classic.
As the signature classic wheels are missing and if I remember the classic has a cluster on indicator lights etc on the center instrument panel??

oops: just read samurais post
