The MM550/540 XD means Peugeot XD3P engine not B275 dude. Hence I'm pretty sure this is a CJ500D model Mahindra Jeep of yester years. For other who thought it is a CJ/CL 340, actually CJ/CL 340 jeeps are short chassis jeeps

why did I say this is B275 not XD3P is that the exhaust port shown in the engine has only 2 outlets from the engine block where in Peugeot engines got 4. Hope I'm correct on my point.
That is a short chasis Jeep and has the MDI engine

The wait is over. Finally "One more MM550xd"

After the deal was over we decided to deal with known people only.Hunt for a jeep was once again started. By this time we were out of the "classic" hang and was looking for an MM550xd as it had the right combinations were looking for. I contacted Uday Sir and informed that we will visit his residence. One Sunday afternoon we visited his residence...dumbstruck we were once we saw his workshop and his collections. I knew that moment this was the place where my jeep is going to born. There I saw an MM550xd that he possessed some months back with the new sandgrip tyres. The body work was left to be done but it was attracting me a lot. I thought of asking him for that jeep only. We were lucky this time as he was getting ready for buying some mm550 on request from an army auction in Siliguri the same week. He sent'Dadu'(he is the main mechanic in uday Sir's workshop and is a veteran in to Siliguri to check the vehicles. Within a day or two Dadu returned from Siliguri with the news we have been waiting for so long. There were two mm550 of 2000 model, one of 2002 model and another 1998 model available in good condition. The first three were already for others who had already requested Uday Sir before us.The following week dadu again went to Siliguri to seal the deal and a day or two later the jeeps were dispatched to Uday sir's residence. Excitement was uncontrollable now to have a glimpse of the jeep that we are going to possess. The following Saturday I went to have the first look on our new baby....will post the pics tomorrow as i found it the first time- waiting for me

The First Look

When I got there the next saturday the mechanics were working on the 2002 model jeep. Our one was lying in the backyard with the other two models. When the jeep was lifted on the truck in Siliguri they must not have taken any care-The pipes at the rear for the soft tops were bent along with the B-Pillar and many more..but I knew a little bit of body work will regain its looks. What i was concerned more was how the mechanicals will be e.g. the engine, gear box, transfer case e.t.c.

The same evening my Jeep was brought out of the backyard. One of the mechanic started to charge the engine so that Dadu could check the condition and then start the mechanical works accordingly. Uday sir is in the first pic checking out the jeep.

Sorry the last pic saved was too small so uploading again.Mods please merge both the posts.

4x4 loaded,

Good to see you have gone down the army disposal route to source your vehicle. With a bit of time, effort and money it will be looking like brand new and in UBS you have one of the few people who has vast knowledge of these Jeeps.

The B pillar etc looks in a very sorry state. Did they try and lift using the b pillar ?

Hi bigman,
I was not at the scene when it was delivered to Uday Sir's home from Siliguri. The B-pillar and the hood pipes at the rear were all cramped in.Its like when you try to tie a box too hard with a rope or something and the box caves in, the rear of the jeep was like that.

Hi 4X4,

Jeep looks nice and those damages are nothing but can be repaired easily.

Can you please let me know about the prices for those three models? any big difference compared to Mayapuri>

Hi Saikat,

Same thing had happened to my Jeep also the guys just dont take care while towing from Army Yard and the B Pillar and Soft top bars get damaged. Anyways You have got a good Jeep , I always consider the Jeep condition with my Jeep condition when I bought it(just see the pic). Your Jeep looks good and these small damages are repairable for sure.

How much you paid for this?

Tarkesh

@ Gypsy-Boy , GoSlow & bigman:
Thanks a lot guys. And yes UBS Sir has been there from the beginning which is the reason for the succesful ongoing of this project without much hassles.

@ Salikt:
The price for each of the 1998 models- 65k(Jeep price) + 5k(Agent's commission) + 2k(as conveyance charge for Dadu) + 6k(transportation from Siliguri to Calcutta/Liluah. So in total its 65+5+2+6=78k. The 2000 model costed 5k more and 2002 model costed more than that. One good news is that the initial buyer for the 2002 model has backed up as he is getting transfered outside. So UBS sir is opting to sell it out.

Most of the jeeps in Mayapuri are from North India whose body condition are normally pretty good.Specially the ones that I have seen in Team-Bhp.
I wont be able to tell you the difference in price between the mayapuri jeeps and jeeps from Siliguri. As far as i know the mechanicals/spares are not is good condition in Mayapuri. The Siliguri jeeps are first brought to Panagarh where many Mayapuri dealers have their outlets/shops.They then send them to Mayapuri. On the way they travel through similar places like Panagarh or Mayapuri. As they keep moving the original or better parts keep getting replaced or stolen.Whereas in Siliguri the jeeps are normally found in virgin condition. This information was shared by UBS sir.

@ Ricky 3007:
Yes this is exactly the same what I meant-

Just wanted to clarify that the auction itself takes place at Panagarh and the dealers sell it in Siliguri ? Is this correct? Cause I have seen auctions only in Panagarh and not Siliguri .

Its true that Jeeps are auctioned at Panagarh. They are also auctioned at Siliguri and Guwahati too for jeeps which are mainly used in the North Bengal and also in North East india.
