Mahindra (Kaiser) CJ3B RHD 1969 Petrol power

A good news to share among the offroading community here, my savings to a MM550 limits and pushed me to purchase a 1969 model Mahindra (Kaiser - thats what the book claims) CJ3B petrol powered RHD JEEP.

Now officially I'm owning my 3rd JEEP (Mahindra Classic, MM540 and CJ3B), many of you definitely know about my Explorer and the MM540 is actually working like horse in Neyveli now. The recent addtion CJ3B is going to be with me and I'm going to prepare this Jeep in the looks of military line. Oh yeah, this is also going to be with me for some offroad trips such as slush and sand.

I'm still confident on using my Explorer for boulders and rocky terrain. Ok, the first and foremost thing I do when I purhcase a vehicle is to name them. So I have selected two names and going to choose one among for my newly aquired Petrol powered Jeep.

The two names are:

1. Crawler
2. Navigator

Pour your votes for one among the name in here TBHPians.

Pictures will be posted during the course of restoration and little bit of modification.

Sure thing guys. Give me couple of hours before I download the pics from my mobile and post it up here.

1. This jeep will be done up in Chennai
2. Jerry can, Amo boxes of 3 sizes, side mounted rear view mirrors, D clamps on bumper, Tow hook on the rear, Black out lights above the front girll, left hand side mounted stepney, scissor top, Extra focus lights, Gun holder,Side handles, Axe, Shawl are the extra fittings that are going to take place on the jeep during military like conversion
3. The rear full door and completely covered rear part will be removed
4. The windshield and Lbow on the engine are badly damaged and same will be replaced as I got that word from our Jeep father Mr.UBS
5. Lots of tinkering will be carried on the Jeep but painting will be delayed for 6 months till next January
6. Mechanically the front axles, 4wd operation levers, front propeller shaft are missing and same are getting replaced.
7. I'm think of pull down type rear door, let me see how it is going to be worked.

The above are the plans for my new jeep.

Congratulations on your Navigator!!

Siva congratulations,
You are one IT guy with no recession!! Please post some pictures. Petrol jeep cannot be a good crawler, hence Navigator will suit it better

My LHD CJ3B also came with these parts missing. Though the front differential housing was there, but the transfer case, Axles, propeller shaft was missing.
But they are available and shouldn't be a big issue!!!

Waiting for the pics!!!

@ Siva:
The jeep is damn good, compared to other highway authority jeeps in Maharashtra. Nice to see that authority has still retained petrol engine.
Is this engine is Go-Devil or Hurricane ??

By the way, are you going o keep the rear door or replacing with a JEEP engraved tail gate ??
Please reply soon.

Hurricane engine. I heard from the action that the NH guys mentioned that this jeep was last used when Petrol price was below Rs.10 per liter. ;-)

since then i was parked in their covered garage, recently just for the action condemn certificate collection process, they rushed the jeep to Chennai from Tiruvannamalai.

+1, Siva sure is on a buying spree.

Siva, the air filter box on your CJ3B is the wrong one. Let me know if you need it, I might have a spare 'FRAM' air filter box. As regards the air filter itself, the Purolator air filter[Model #PI-113] meant for Premier Padminis is a direct fit.

Can you pics of the air filter ? I'm not sure what I have is original or not on the Carb factor.

Oops, my Bad. I meant to say Oil filter and typed air filter instead.

Here's a link from the CJ3B page:
