Congrats Shakir , Vijay & Star_Aqua on your new priced possessions.
I have been waiting for this thread to show up in t-bhp ever since I heard it from Vijay.

I think you guys should start three separate threads about your restoration.

BTW- Shakir, which one is your baby in those pics?

Congrats !

Congrats on the Jongas, !!!

Hope you are aware that there is another restored Jonga on this forum : please check http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/1470846-post147.html

Maybe you could check out with member Abhilashn (Team-BHP), in case you havent already. He should be able to help you all with the restore, since he seems to have done a lot of groundwork already as part of his restore.

All the best on the restoration . I will be keenly following this thread. The Jonga (Nissan Patrol 60 or P60) is one awesome off-roader.

Thank you guyz for your wishes and support

Some random pics here. these jongas are from chennai. two of them served as ambulance for military. though those 2 are longer than the normal one, the wheel base is same for all.

Congratulation's for accruing these rear machines,
I guess they need a LOT of restoration to come back to form.
Have heard about their performance from a Ex military guy (Rezin) in Ladhak who owns a 2002 Scorpio now, he praised a lot about the Jongas capability's.

Cheers

Nissan Patrols have always been tough and capable offroad. You have sound machinery, the end result should be fun and impressive

Your restoration threads will be such a delight to follow !

One idea for the ambulances. Cut out that body aft of the B pillar and simply install a flat load bed from a Tata 207 ( you should get new unused ones from autobody factories for less than 10000) and convert the Jonga's into offroad pickups, obviously with a short overhang.

Will look goegeous, like mini trucks

Star_Aqua,
Looking at the pics..i feel you guys have a long way to go But Jonga is a Jonga!
Good Luck with your restoration. Are you planning to keep it as petrol itself?

Long back I had gone for a test drive on a civilian Jonga with Hino diesel engine when it was launched for public. Wasn't really impressed by its civilian avatar rather it was looking ugly, so didnt buy it and I went & bought a MM540.

I think only 100 of them were sold to civilians before they scrap that plan.

Sha, Vijay, StarAqua - congrats of the acquisition!!

It has always been my dream to own a Jonga!! We used to have one when I was a kid. Riding in it was a scary experience but somehow I have always been in awe of this vehicle!

I am glued to this thread.

Cheers

That's a bloody in line 6 cylinder, 4 liter petrol engine. It would be a bomb to drive this guy off-road.

Start hunting for the Hitachi carbs for the Jonga. A Solex though good won't give you enough grunt as the Hitachi.

I am told that the ones armed with the Hitachi carbs produce 145hp@3800rpm and 32.5kgm@2000rpm torque.
