gsferrari, See If I am not buying the Gypsy, I cant ask the owner for only the FWH right? And if I buy it I would like to keep it.
BTW -Why do you want those old Aisin FWH.Better to go for brand new ones. I think Raj (desmosedici) is getting a set of new Aisin or you can go for lamda FWH.

Took the plunge!!

Friends, finally after so many days of thinking I couldn't resist the Gypsy bug and I took the plunge. I went and bought the Gypsy and restoration will start soon.

Its not going to be a stock restoration like last time. I am planning to build a custom offroader out of this Gypsy.

I need a help from fellow bhpians as I am looking for a sand blasting company in and around Cochin or Kerala to blast the old paint (read rust) on this Gypsy and repaint it

Pics and updates to follow.

JC for the price i feel its not a bad deal as the papers are also intact.

But to bring her, As per your expectations you need a lot of time/patience and Vitamin M .

what engine you are looking for?

If you are planning for 410 engine, gear box, transfer case. I can help you in sourcing it. Also Widetrack Diff both front and rear is available.

All the best for your project.

Regards,
Krishna Thanthri

Congrats for the purchase JC, i guess the negotiations didn't workout as expected, looks like it has a lot of body work to be done, i guess the custom offroader should have a nice and powerful engine, not in the petrol segment. Also fell this should have wider track, like allans other blue gypsy and a lot of checkered plates along the bodyline.

Sometime back, when I was restoring my MM540, I was also looking for one. You know how it is in Wayand.

This price is OK, considering that all the docs are in order.

Since you are going to replace the axles , why not zero in on the FC van axles only....they are wider and are designed for SPOA (which I guess you are planning on anyway)...and you have good choice of diff ratios to suit any size tyre that you decide to put in.

Pramod
pramodkumar, Well i did not negotiate much in the end since the ex-owner got the docs updated and he paid for it.
Nah.. body work is almost done.. its just due to the rust or oxidation its appears that there is more work.
Engine swap or upgrade is in the list and oh yeah I am definitely going for wider axles and lots of body Armour to prevent trail damages.

Jeevan, thanks for the info. Yes I know the situation Wayanad.
I have already checked with the guys you mentioned. Unfortunately they don't do sandblasting for automobiles.

Now the only option is to go the traditional way!! Or can somebody here help me to find a sandblasting company.
