Have done that too. After the wheel lets go off the hand, revved upto around 30kmph and then stopped the wheels from spinning. After that it was a simple check to see if they were able to hold onto that wheel again after it was allowed to spin at idling rpm.

However, I did not really need to check for the functionality because had experienced this thing on a Chevrolet Avalanche Pickup (on which this was offerred as a standard equipment) a few years back. The guy simply hoisted one wheel on a roller fitted hydraulic jack and the spun to lock. Drove upto 20 mph and then it lost power, although he could activate it again by spinning.

Was not talking of the speed > ~ 30 Km unlocking, but of the unlocking/ relocking which should occur if the wheels alternately meet slippery patches.

That wont happen. Once locked, the axles will continue to be locked till the > 30kmph event happens.

For example, if any wheel spins at a 100rpm differential at a vehicle speed lower than 30kmph,the differential will be in locked state. Will remain that way, as long as one does not exceed 30kmph.

Thats why I mentioned, that I would still prefer a proper diff-lock with manual controls to lock, unlock. Their e-locker does that.

As I mentioned, feel free. However, any tests, personally, i wont like being done on tarmac. Because where I intend to derive some value out of it, mainly on our farm lands, I wont have to bother about moving about in a locked state for a little extended duration, without being able to reach the 30kmph threshold.

Oops, I did not notice that a similar video has been posted. My mistake.
There is a better video with explanation, let me try to dig that out.

The Thar uses the same Scorpio axle, so it is a direct fit for the Thar

Tarun, has answered your query and he is right. It is a direct fit only on the rear axle.

Locking / unlocking we have checked enough times and I know how to lock and unlock this thing (not posting details in this thread due to some reasons) . I thought you were really going to check this out; may be you could find out something which we 'may' have missed. Some trials were still undergoing while I left in between, hence this query and anxiety.

Tell me what kind of bench you want and we can arrange it in Kolkata.

I really want to check it out, but don't see how. Requires stripping, measuring, ... (You know the drill). The rest (bench, road) is a validation and checking for anomalies run.

Would also like to do it with the gerotor design. (The principle appeals to me more)

Was asking for you to donate the unit, not the bench!

Regards
Sutripta

^^ Ok, now I understand what you were referring to - a sample, I thought it as a test bench. And you are right, the process for analysis is pretty tiring, time consuming and cumbersome.

May be Tarun can help us with a sample, I am sure there must be plenty lying around with him unused for different reasons.

Your test bench: Did you just control/ measure speeds? Or also torque?
