Get a new Abarth Punto, or try the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI though it produces less horses than the Abarth, it's worth it. If a diesel vehicle is fine, get a used Volkswagen Polo GT TDI (1.6 TDI) or a Maruti Suzuki S-Cross 1.6 as suggested by Landcruiser123 .
A used Chevy Cruze will be a great choice.:)

NOC
If you are buying a car that is regd in another state, avoid it, but if you can't, then ask the previous owner to get a NOC from his RTO. Make that one of your conditions when you take the vehicle.

I am planning to buy a car around the 10 lakh mark. There are some pretty interesting upgrades from my ritz petrol (which I plan to keep) available in market today. I am particularly giving a long hard look at the tuv 3oo mhawk 100. But I was browsing through some pre owned cars, and some of the deals in other states like delhi, Mumbai, pune are mouth watering sweet(I live in kerala). The difference is 3-5 lakh compared to a similar deal in South India. So if I don't mind the extra trouble of getting NOC should I still avoid buying a vehicle from other state? Will the transfer of road tax negate the price difference. Some one please enlighten:).

Guys, does a used Jetta Comfortline/Highline (MT) in the price range of 10-11L makes sense over a brand new S-Cross 1.6 base model that's costing me 9L ex showroom CSD rate? I know Jetta is a superior car but then it's about buying a 4-5 year old VW against a brand new Suzuki. Also the maintenance cost would be substantially more with the Jetta because its pre-used and its a D segment car.

I guess buying the S-Cross makes more sense as it is almost the same cost, with lower maintenance costs for sure and it is also certain to give the Jetta a run for its money on the highways (that 320NM!!:)). Plus the resale, if that matters, will definitely be more for the S-Cross

The only downside is probably the gadgetry will be less in the Suzuki as it is the base model.

That torque ! Plus a RD box in a couple of months should take it to another level lol:

Yes gadgetry is definitely a lot less in the base model but the reason of getting the base is to upgrade alloys, seats, ICE, headlights and other small bits according to my personal taste/preference.

Also the car would be my daily driver and basically my go to car for everything, whether its about driving down to a store a km away or going out of station.

HI fellow BHPians,

Need your suggestions/help in selecting a pre-worshipped car, please:

1> Daily commuting would be 15~20 KMS.
2> Budget: 3,00,000 ~ 4,50,000
3> Fuel: Petrol/Diesel
4> Less clocked on the ODO
5> Preferably hatchback( Since it will be driven by my sister most of the time), but open to sedans since she is comfortable driving both

Any of the BHPians who is willing to sell their car can inbox their contact to me.

Thanks in advance,
MAdhusudan

Hi MAdhusudan,
I would suggest a Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R, decent leg room and headroom, good fuel economy, compact size, etc.

Try:
1. Maruti Suzuki Swift but most of them will have high mileage on the ODO.
2. Hyundai Eon will be a good choice. There are few of them listed in Team-BHP classifieds with <20k kms on the ODO.
3. The legendary Fiat Palio S10. There is one listed in the forum by member, vrpai.

HI Tojo,

Thanks for your suggestion, But sister does not like Wagon-R. I am looking for Swift/I20/I10/Punto/City and looking only Karnataka registered vehicles since the vehicle will be driven in Bangalore. If I get a good Honda City we can stretch another 50K more.

HI BHPians,

Following 3 cars are for sale in the market, need your suggestion on choosing the same

1> Skoda Fabia 1.6 elegant
Model: 2011
Fuel: Petrol
ODO: 35,000
No. of owners: 1
Color: White
Quoting: 3,30,000

2> Skoda Fabia 1.2 Ambient
Model: 2011
Fuel: Petrol
ODO: 42,000
No. of owners: 2
Color: White
Quoting: 2,90,000

3> Ford Figo Exi 1.2
Model: 2011
Fuel: Petrol
ODO: 22,966
No. of owners: 1
Color: White
Quoting: 2,90,000

Is it worth buying a used Skoda Fabia? I have a Skoda Laura but looking at the high maintenance cost cannot risk on this - need suggestion on the same.
Maintenance cost of both Skoda and Ford - Which is better?

Please provide some information regarding these queries, in a confusion.

Thanks in advance,
MAdhusudan

I just opened up the "Long term ownership thread" and searched for Jetta till the 10th page! No results came up

Are there no Jettas on our forum that have clocked over 50k kms?

Somehow a pre-worshipped Jetta TDI MT is not inspiring confidence at all.

Hello mate,

Chethan B G's Volkswagen Jetta TDI MT (Highline variant) has clocked >50k kms on the ODO.

It is in the Test-drive and initial ownership report section of the forum.

Oh yes, his thread I've been secretly following lol: and his ownership is a major reason why I am even considering a pre-used Jetta.

But I need to do more research, most importantly read about common problems and a German car over 4 years old usually troubles you a bit but that's the trade-off you make given it's solid build and excellent driving dynamics. I'll keep researching and hope to receive some valuable feedback from other users. :)

Hello friends,
What should be a right ballpark price for (Am based in Thane/Mumbai) -

Hyundai i20 (2012 face-lift model) Sportz Petrol
Year of Mdg.: 2012
Fuel: Petrol
ODO: 25,000
No. of owners: 1
Color: Red

Also, can you please provide me with suggestions as which would be the best preowned hatchback in budget of INR 3.5-4.5 lakhs. Do note that this would be the first car in the family. So, ease of ownership and servicing is quite preferred.

Cars considered as of now - Hyundai i20 / Honda Jazz

Thank you!

I'm looking at a pre-owned Vento TSI in Bangalore. I found a listing with the following -
1. Bangalore registered (KA registered)
2. 2015 comfortline model, however this is the pre-facelift version [so, no flatbottom steering, autofolding mirrors etc]
3. Single owner
4. Has run around 7,500km.
5. Has extended warranty till 2019

The owner is looking to move overseas, and is hence selling the car.

The asking price however is Rs 10.25L. This certainly looks like its on the higher side. Indian bluebook and other websites peg the value at around 8.25L, which may be too low.

What should be a good price to quote?
