And it would be great if you can guide on how this can be decoded.

Thank you!

I believe the VIN date corresponds to when the CKD kit was manufactured, and not when the car was assembled in India?

When CKD kit was manufactured.

Check this post.

Knew something was wrong. Thank you. These guys had the gall to claim that this is a 2022 vehicle.

Check this post.

I checked the Hyundai site and it has left me more confused. The production date is 17th December whereas Model date is 2022! Which one do we go with? Also the value against ESC is empty. Whereas all variants of N line are supposed to have ESC.

Production Date is 17th December so that makes it a 2021-built 2022 specification car. If all variants of the N Line are sure to have ESC, it will be there even if it is not marked there. Ensure that this is the VIN for your car.

As Akash has pointed out, this car is built as per 2022 spec list/features. So technically a 2022 model. But the date of manufacture will reflect as "12/21" on vehicle RC. If your dealer is adamant, ask him to share a copy of Form 22 which will have date of manufacture mentioned on it. Based on that information you can take a call.

Regarding ESC, this value is blank in other i20 turbo VINs as well. If you scroll down further, you'll find another element called "ESP" which I assume is what you're looking for. :)

Thank you so much!

He provided the Form 20 which has date of manufacture as Jan 22. Is this form filled out by dealer?

Thanks again to you and Akash for helping out with this one!

Form 20 is for registration which is filled by dealer. Form 22 is a road worthiness certificate that manufacturer provides to the dealer.

However, these documents are collectively required for registration and I'm not sure how the RTO will treat this discrepancy. If you do not have the liberty to choose another car, I'd say take the dealer's word and hope for the best. We all know how things work at government offices.

The dealer is bringing over Form 22 tomorrow (they claim it is a sensitive doc not to be shared digitally). Apparently GSW is not to be trusted since it has European data. rl:

The dealer showed the form 22 today. Unfortunately, it did not have any field for date of manufacturer (template: https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/s...orm/form22.pdf)

To add to the confusion, it had the chassis number mentioned as "MALBH511LNM113044*A" - per the interpretation provided on the first page of this article, A corresponds to Jan for Hyundai. GSW only allows for 17 digits to be entered for VIN though.

Got the VIN today of Skoda kushaq, can someone help decode this please?
Thanks

I think depending on whether or not you plan to keep the car for long should decide if you should choose it. If resale value is important in the near future for you (i.e you change cars often), I think request the SA to get a newer car for you. Otherwise, incase you're going over 6-7 years with the car, it shouldn't really affect you a lot.

Also, "GSW has European data" is simply another way of the SA saying we're lying to you, but we cannot tell you that directly.

6th character represents the MONTH of Manufacture: A = January
10th character represents the YEAR of Manufacture: N = 2022

Month and year of manufacture is printed on the road worthiness certificate which is a part of Form 22. You'll find month and year on Form 21 (sale certificate) as well but like Form 20, details on that are filled by the dealership.

That's confusing! But the silver lining is that majority of sources are still pointing towards this being a January 2022 vehicle lol:

It's the first time such discrepancy has been noticed with GSW site. Once you get your RC, do post an update here for the benefit of various members (including me) who trust the site blindly.

Hello,
Could someone help me decode the below VIN for a Kia sonet?
