New Pioneer Products Launched (Jan 2012)

Here's an article about the latest products launched by Pioneer in India:

Pioneer announces its 2012 line-up - CarWale News

I've been thinking about the 3350BT and the 4390DVD for myself. But these have been made obsolete with the new launches, which you can see here:

New Launches

Unfortunately, the website doesn't have the details, but you can compare the products with the US site:

DVD Receivers | Pioneer Electronics USA

For example, if you want to find out more about the 8490BT (launched in India), you can compare its specs and features to the 8400BH (USA).

MODS: There's an older thread on Pioneer, but I felt that that was negative (from the title and original post) and outdated, hence created this one.

Yeh Preetham,

HU looks good,

- does it have inbuilt navigation too?
- How good is the display in bright sun light?

Provisions for USB and AUX?

Awesome. Can you tell me how much it cost? And is the faceplate detachable?

Re: New Pioneer Products Launched (Jan 2012)

Preetham - Looks good. This replaces the earlier 4000 series, but with addition of BT. Can you please let us know how much you paid for this?

Raghu230506 - USB and Aux - Yes, Navigation - No, Display is adjustable for brightness and is never a problem in direct sunlight.

Edit - PhX - You still aren't convinced, are you? If you look closely, you can screen the protrusion of the screen from the surface level which indicates detachable faceplate.

Hi Guys, I guess bala80 has answered most of the queries. And no issues at all in direct sunlight. The picture was taken in direct sunlight too.

I paid 27K for the HU and an additional 5.5K for the 2 DIN dash kit for Civic.
Installation was at Topgear(Anwar) / Koramangala. I will post details on the complete ICE setup in separate thread.

Still no luck with your JVC hunt? If so, forget it and switch to pioneer!

Hi all

I am planning to install the flagship av receiver AVH- P8490BT on my new 2012 honda city. My car accessories guy told me its still not here. He just has the 4490BT currently. Does anyone know the price of the 8490 BT? It's the only av receiver in the new series with a VGA display. The others are QVGA and the text looks a bit pixelated.

Thanks

Sunny

Re: New Pioneer Products Launched (Jan 2012)

I got my HU changed. Pioneer AVH-4490BT

Issue - It washes out in direct sunlight which is a big pain while reversing the car. And the angle of the moulding is not that brilliant, the HU angles more to the top so the wordings of the touch buttons at the home page cannot be seen from the drivers eat without moving the head forward.

Thanks for your update. Apart from this issue, how is the device itself? Is the touch responsive? Fingerprint magnet?

It might be a matte screen but it does get smudges very easily. Touch is resistive BTW.
The responsiveness is good and the HU does have a lot of customization options.
I wanted to keep the colour combination at red as it doesn't bother the eyes much, though the illumination looks good but the font in the UI looks pink which is just not cool.
