No No NO!! a 6x9 doesnt ACT like a sub. It is not an actor. it is a speaker that has near equivalent cone surface area of a 8" speaker. Thats about it. A 6x9 speaker and an 8" sub have different design objectives and different applications.

Sony do make good amps like the sd series or so.

Sony had 2 amps below 5k in India with B&W. So we suggest taht amp below 5k. 5k up you have Pios etc which are more poweful and vfm. Thats all I guess.

Well you can get a CS amp. All JBL CS series amplifiers(2ch, 4ch and mono) are below 10K brand new.

JBL 8' sub with enclosure

Hey guys,
Was going through this thread and I wanted to know if there are any JBL 8 inch subs in enclosure, i.e built-in at factory. If yes Samji could you please post the model no.?

If no, could you guys recommend any pre-fabricated boxes for the JBL GTO804 that gives a precise and tight bass! I am looking for this because, I might want to remove the subwoofer from the boot of my i10 rarely!

Pioneer 4050 hu
JBL GT series 4" coxials in the front dash
JBL GTO 948 6x9 limited edition coaxials in the rear mdf box.

8" bass tube? I have not seen one from JBL. Try their website to see if they have one.

i'd look at a 4 ch amp from JBL, Pioneer, Kenwood etc.. and a 10" in a small sealed box. Use the amp to power the 4" (HPF 120Hz or so) and the sub (LPF at 100Hz or so).

Total cost: sub 5-6K, box 1K, wires: 2K, optional damping 3K so say 10-12K will cover this.

You got me wrong mate! I meant a small sealed box and not a bass tube!!
I believe both are two different things. Correct me if I'm wrong sir!!

Oh yeah!! Got it.

Crutchfield-Sound Ordnance Bass Bunkers

Is this worth the money?

I'd much prefer a small sealed box than a bass tube. It will help a lot witht he range between 50Hz and 100Hz but dont expect an 8" to produce good SPLs at 30-40Hz.

Navinji, I'm not looking for SPL !! Actually deep booming systems give me a headache after 10 mins of exposure, hence I prefer SQ and thought of putting in a sub just to reproduce the lows to a fair extent!!

Navin, I've got a doubt. If I drive a JBL GTO804 (200W RMS) sub with the GTO1004 amp, with rear channel bridged, i.e., 300W RMS fed into to the sub, will either of them go KA-BOOM ?
