if you mean foam dont use foam. it will deteriorate and become dust. use butyl rubber.
@Johy - Have you contacted the Wuerth office in Kolkata? They had given me a quotation when I had spoken to them a few months ago. This doesn't necessarily mean that they have the stuff in stock, though.

I dont know if its foam or not. Its the material used in this setup.

you can buy closed cell foam, also known as cross-link foam.
Gymnasiums use floor mats for exercising which are made of pretty much the same material, try sourcing them and the applying adhesive on one side, or you might be lucky to find one side adhesive foam readily available!
this will serve your purpose and will be relatively cheap, some 200 buks for a 3' x 4' sheet.

Does these sheets can be really considered as damping materials, Also... as Optra has enough of Damping in Doors with some thick stuff which i gotta see when the door trims were opened for some lock problem... I need to do damp the Boot which give enough of sound with a small increase in BASS...
Also, is it something DIY or you really need some specialized mechanic to get it fixed ?
Eureka! I am getting Wurth in Siliguri itself (special thanks to Nura - I had almost decided on D Extreme). They apparently have 2 salesmen here and they are getting the stuff for 4500/- (4 doors + hatch door) + 500 labor charges.
I sure am glad - some damping better than nothing.

Congratulations, Johy. Remember, these are bitumen-based sheets & need to be warmed well before being stuck.

guys, ive got a civic, i want to get some damping done on the front doors,parcel tray and boot. what is the most VFM option for me and how much would i need and cost.

This thread is getting a bit out of control. To put the whole question of damping in perpective let me sumarise and say this.
1. there are a host of damping materials out there. Wurth, Fonomat, Dynamat, American Dynamics, Noise kill, E-Dead, etc...
2. damping materials made of butyl rubber are better than those made from asphalt which is a low cost alternate.
3. foam (closed cell) will not absorb water but being foam will deteriorate over time.
4. open cell foam should be avoided
5. damping material is sold in sheets ranging from 1ft x 1ft to 1m x 1m. you need about 10 m2 to damp an entire midsized sedan (all doors, fire wall, trunk, under carpet). Cost to do this can range from Rs. 8,000 to 20,000 and more.
6. It is
impossible to ascertain which selection of damping brands are available where. It is recomended that users do local homework from atleast 3-4 reputed dealers and use the above guidelines to make educated decisions.
7. It would be much appreciated if users could post there findings here using the format below. Maybe by doing this we will hae a large enough database that other members will find worth while.

The following is for a very basic, low cost damping for my Santro. The problem area basically was my boot lid which I had targeted (earlier, the number plate was removed and in place had a Sticker stuck on which was made ditto as per the number plate specs.)
Car damped: Santro Zip plus 2002 LS
Panels Damped: Front Doors and Boot Lid
Brand of Damping used: Accumat a Scosche Brand
Qty of Damping used: 5 nos. 1' x 1' Mats. 1 Mat each for the Front doors and 3 Mats for the Boot Lid
Cost of Damping: Rs. 3,000/-
Time taken: Around 30 minutes
DIY / Installer: Done by Moto Axis (Installer), Secunderabad.
