I'd noticed some stuff under the hood and below my carpeting. most of it looked tired. Was thinking about upgrading/swapping them at first. Any ideas for them?

@Greenhorn, my experience - pull out the dash, damping sheets on teh firewall. Damp the inside of the doors too. You'll be good to go.

I'm expecting my new 2012 Honda city E-MT any day now. Just wanted some advice since I intend to do some "dynamatting". Will it enhance the sound and reduce NVH drastically. Please advice.

With stock speakers in Honda , there is no need for damping . I have sat in my friends honda city and didnt find any need for damping . If you happen to upgrade your speakers , then damping is required . Nobody on teambhp ever complained about NVH inside cabin . So go ahead and get your honda , inveest in damping when you upgrade your ICE . :D

Thanks Safari Beast. Sorry I did not mention. Im going to totally change the ICE with a Pioneer HU, Focal Components, JBL Touring series mono amp, a 4 channel amp (still undecided) and a Kicker enclosure sub.

with the given choice of equipment, invest a little in damping as well; you may go with the new line of NoiseKill which is almost as good as dynamat (i've NoiseKill in my City and Dynamat in my Lancer); it would certainly make a lot of difference in the way your ICE would sound. damp atleast front doors, parcel tray, and bootlid completely.

Now this is something to look forward to. BTW, my car accessories guy at Borivli does not stock Noisekill. Do you know of a good competent place to get all this done from preferably close to Borivli (western suburbs).

Hey guys

So I got all the doors in civic dampened but I found a new issue.
The door handle (interior) assembly rattles on songs with high bass.

I got to this conclusion because as soon as that sound came on the driver's end and I held the door handle by taking it out a bit, the rattling stopped for a while and started up again (eventually)

Any idea how this could be fixed?

look at www.armacell.in Around three years back, I did use their material to to damp the all the doors, hatch and boot of my swift vxi, I was very much satisfied with the result. They are available in 1mt x 1mt size, needs to by atleast 10 sheets. (but managed to get 6 sheets) I remember it costed me around Rs.140+ per sq.ft. in 2008-09

try by re-fitting the door trim, most probably the spring in handle assembly has not been fitted properly.

Yes the door trim might be loose. Ask your dealer to open the door panel and tighten the fit. Then add damping so that the vibrations dont loosen the trim over time.

American Damping, 1.5mm thick, 1m x 60cm is being sold at about 1500-1600 per sheet. This 1m x1m at 1400 looks well priced, and not very high.

Coming back to tackling rattling of door-pads: Forget the Yoga mats. You can do it at just 15-20% of the cost of yoga mats.

This synth sheet is used below carpets (like in offices). It is available in at least 2 types:
* 6 mm thick (black) @ Rs 50 per meter,
* 8 mm thick (white). @ Rs 60 per meter.

Width of sheet: about 50 inches.



This sheet is lighter than Yoga mats, but will do the job just as effectively.

Available in any shop that sells synthetic carpets / Car seat cover material etc. In Bangalore, there are enough shops in JC Road.

Including tax it was around 1600/- for 11 sqft. Do note that it was 10mm thickness. The cost depend on thinkess.
