thats probably because most people are ignorant of sound dynamics just as i was before i joined this forum. most people like to 'show' their assets more than enjoy their music. i guess thats why. i am still like most people in this regard, yet to down my tweeters, in search of good compo install. :)

The location of the tweeters affects the coherrence more than the dynamics.

Hi all
Atlast i had my ICE set up done. Since, i had to spend on certain unforseen expenses, i had to postpone my amp. So, right now, it is just my HU, front compo and 61/2 in the back. The set up looks like this:
1. Alpine 9857 HU for Rs 15,500 (Grey)
2. Alpine Ipod connector for Rs 1500 (Grey)
3. Infinity Ref 6010cs compo for the front Rs 9,000 (JBL dealer)
4. Infinity Ref 6012i 6 1/2 2 way coax for the rear doors. Rs 5,200.(JBL dealer)
The set up sounds good. But lacks the punch. Badly need an amp. planning to buy JBL 4 channel 60.4 next month. Ofcourse the wiring kit.
Can some one tell me if the prices i have paid are fine?

yeah....u need amplifier for this kind of set-up especially alpine HU r known for lack of internal powerful amplifier and even worse infinty spk sound best when fed with sufficient power which only ext. amplifier can provide,with ofcourse branded wiring kit which we have been discussing right now on different threads.
About prices,Sam is the best man here to answer.

Nice setup VCM. You chose really well. Lots of folks going the extra mile with Infinity nowadays. Really good to see so many ppl serious about music.

Yes. I'm planning to add a 4 Channel Amp. (Mostly JBL. May be Alpine...). The more i listen, the more i feel, the need for an amp. Waiting my next salary.
Regarding Sub...i am worried about boot space. Swift doesnt have a good boot space. (Ok, it is a hatchback). May be should i look at a plug & play type? NO.:Shockked: I'm not looking at Sub atleast for the next three...no, two months.
For now, i will enjoy the music.

rightly said. the music is more important. it is better to wait & listen a while before deciding on upgrades. this will help you in choosing the right hardware.

the Swift has provision for 6" round speakers in all doors.
from what i've noticed - most manufacturers make either 6.5" or 5.25" speakers. also i've seen BHPians have gone in for the 6.5" speakers.
is any modification required to the provided space for installing either the 6.5" or 5.25" speakers, and which size makes for an easier installation?
also, what're your thoughts on installing a subwoofer in the parcel-shelf with no box underneath. i'm thinking about something along these lines:
i usually don't play my music very loud so don't need a very-high powered subwoofer to blow everybody's eardrums off.

6.5" from most manufacturers are a direct drop-in for the Swift. In some cases an MDF spacer will be required, but the spacer will be
inside the plastic grille/stock speaker pod, so it won't be seen outside. Go for 6.5" and not 5.25" for the front speakers, at least. It will make a
big difference up-front.
If you're not too much of a basshead, the
THb200A (active sub) might suit you. Especially because it is so small, and because you don't need a separate amp -- easier and cheaper installation (thinner power wire will do it). It's max output is 140w RMS, and constant output is 70w RMS. So don't expect much. It will support the music, and will give you the output of about an 8" Sub (mounted in Free-air style on the tray). My first sub was something like this. A Blaupunkt InCar IC10. Its constant output was 50W. I'm no bass head myself, but I found I needed more bass about a couple of weeks after I started using it. I then went for a proper sub and amp combo. So make sure you try before you buy. The showroom guys will easily be able to demo this
inside the car for you, as hooking it up is that simple. And do mount it inside the cabin (and not in the boot) if you can for best results. On the parcel tray or under your seat will probably be good.
The other subs you mentioned are about the flattest ones available now. But I don't think the Swift's rear parcel tray area is wide enough for even a 10". An 8" may go in. Could you measure the widest point of the parcel tray and let us know? And, if you are mounting the subs on the rear tray free-air style, you don't really need to spend the premium (and suffer a slight loss of output) for slim subs. A regular sub will be fine. Unless you want to save a couple of inches of vertical luggage area inside the boot.
Another option would be installing one of those slim subs under your seat in a box. Again, This depends on the available space.
Another good option for an active sub (like the THb 200A) will be the Infinity BassLink II. It might give better bass, as it has a 10" driver
and a 10" passive radiator, and I think it does about 250w RMS max. Linky with info:

The Infinity is available in India. as a member (who drives a Landcruiser, if I'm not mistaken) got one installed by Driven in Delhi for around 15K.
You probably considered the
THb 250, right? Slim passive sub in a slim box (for installation the boot). I would go for that one if space is an issue, but not soooo much an issue :-). I don't think you will lose thaaat much boot space. But I guess you know your luggage-carrying needs vs. Bass needs better.
