Huh? Not fair, Sam!lol:
hello people,
i picked up a set of jbl components for my car (swift). i already had the pioneer p1y HU, a sony 500 W amp a pioneer 800W sub and rear pioneer blue cone 350W speakers. Effect was good, but i wanted a lil more in the front. The guy connected my components, but i could barely hear them!! he gave the connection to the HU through the baby amps that come with the components and yet i could make out any difference. So now he's given a common connection for my rear and my front components on the amp. It sounds DISASTROUS!!!! it just sound LOUD...nothing else...
i cant fiddle around with the settings, i cant do anything. Any suggestions on what i should go and tell the guy to do after chucking my shoe at him? as in....any suggestions on how to change my connections? how have all of you'll got your systems connected?

OK... ask your dealer to connect the rear speakers from the HU... and front components thru the amp....
and "baby amps" are not amps... they are called crossover(x-over). and crossovers do not amplify the sound. for a better understaning, do a search in this thread.

use the amp for the front and sub (I assume you have a 4 ch amp) and the HU for the rear.

Hello Gurus
I'm a silent observer of this forum, and am flattered by the knowledge and passion shown. I have just booked a Swift Zxi, and am looking for ICE options.
I have gone through Sam's comprehensive thread, as well as Navin's recommendation based on budgets, swift audiio thread, kb ka db...what not.
My taste: I love my music to be sweet, natural and balanced. I dont want to announce my arrival with my music. I listen to lot of south indian stuff, and carnatic music.
What i think: I'm thinking of the following sets:
HU Alpine 9857 Rs 17000 (without BW)
Front Infinity ref6010cs Rs 9500
Back JBL 6X9 ovals Rs 4500
Amp Sony 4ch Rs??
Wiring kit JBL Rs 2900
Prices indicated by CATS Chennai.
What i want: Gurus, i am a novice in ICE. Please let me know, if i will be able to get what i want...err...sound quality, not too bright sound, balanced music. Sort of, the way, the composer would like to hear it...
And will the set up work, and are the indicated price okay?
And yes, as navin always says, i'm yet to listen to the unit. i will do it soon.
Thanks in advance.
VCM, your setup looks to be good enough. Really good choice of front comps.
The Alpine is a good buy, but without B&W it is likely to be a bit of a risk. At this price point, I'm sure the HU will put out good SQ. It is a good thing that you are going in for quality wiring.
Since you have Infinitys in front, the sound will not be too bright, and Infinitys do give really balanced sound. The JBLs in the back will be a little brighter, but you can always fix that with the tone adjustments in the HU.
Ideally you should be using Infinitys (6012i in the rear door stock locations, or 6913i in a parcel tray) in the back, but I guess we should try and keep you to budget (though you haven't mentioned a total figure, I guess 14K is your limit for speakers, huh?).
Sony's (Xplod) Amp:
XM-554ZR
4/3 Channel Stereo Power amplifier
• Maximum Output Power :-
4 ch x 110W at 4 ohms
2 ch x 150W at 2 ohms
• Frequency Response:5Hz-50KHz
• Rated Output Power :4 Ch x55W at 4 ohms (0.04% THD)
• 2 x 65W+1Ch x130W at 4 ohms (0.1% THD)
• 4 Ch x 65W at 2 ohms (0.1% THD)
MRP : Rs. 5,990 /-
This is what I found on Sony's website.
Since you are going in for products from one family (infinity & JBL) in the front and back, why don't you get a JBL CS60.4 Amp? We folks here do not recommend Sony amps or speakers. Sony Amps will be ok on a tight budget, but their speakers are not for those inclined to quality audio. The shop will prolly give you a better discount if you go all JBL (& Infinity). I don't think you will need the JBL 75.4 amp (It will cost quite a bit more, but gives better output).
I agree with Hydrashok here you would be better off fitting a JBL 60.4 or 75.4 considering the rest of the components of your system are pretty high-end. A Sony 554 would not do justice to the rest of the setup.
Thanks hydrashock, iraghava.
I will certainly consider JBL amp, if the price difference is going to be around 1-2k.
@hydrashock, yes, JBL will be bit bright. But, since i will be driving the car, almost always, i think the front sound-stage should take care of that, Right?

I think SAM should be able answer that ;-)
I have a Kenwood kdc5029 head unit with Jbl 6" Cs series front speakers and JBLGTO937 2ohms speakers behind. I fixed sony xm-552zr amp for the rear JBLs. the sound is great with good bass but the amp failed in 1 hr of usage and i got it replaced. The new amp has also failed. Why is this happenin....the manual says that the amp is suited for 2ohm speakers. Can anyone help me. I have a 4 ohm pioneer 12" sub idle...is it a good idea to fix it also to this amp. Will the extra ohms make a diff to the amp. SOmeone Help
