I'm not the "Great One" but I beleive the Infinity is not offically available in India. My mom wanted one for her NHC and could not get it. What say oh Great One?

Ya! With all those Swifts around (and more getting on the roads daily), I'm sure JBL stands to make a killing with good and compact Active subs like the BassLink II. The Swift seems to be the perfect car for the BassLink, considering the real paucity of boot space. And a lot of people who drive other cars would like a no-hassle & non-luggage-space-compromising solution.

The Basslink II if sold in India would cost about Rs. 20K. How many would sell at that price?

BTW my mom has a NHC still trunk space is important to her and her aesthetic sensibilities will not allow her to accept some mongrel isobarik sub her son cooked up. Not after seeing my latest tube amps.

Yow! 20K! It wouldn't sell. Anybody would buy a decent sub and amp separately. I withdraw my suggestion! :-)

aah78,
There is one other option for the sub I forgot to mention. You can fit a decent size 10" to maybe 12" in the spare wheel well (by retaining the spare there). There's a thread that details how it was done in a Getz in the ICE section.

Edit: Linky for spare-wheel-well install: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-en...heel-well.html

great, thanks for your inputs hydrashok and navin. i haven't seen the Swift in person - thats the reason for me being so vague with the dimensions.

i see what you mean with the low wattage free-space install. i thought the parcel shelf would be atleast 12" - thats why i thought a 10" would fit in OK. if it's smaller then i'm going to have to re-think a little.

i've seen the spare wheel area sub installation by Gunbir but it's been done on a Santro and i don't know whether a Swift would have that much space available. we'll see.

thanks again.

another question - i have a 35W rms Pioneer 2-channel amp lying around at home - i bought it a couple of years ago for absolutely no reason as such. would i be killing it if i use it to drive 2 speakers rated at 30W rms each (or 2 speakers rated at 35W rms each)?

I dont think it can cause a problem. Power it up.
I think amp should be 35W rms X 2!! Itll be ok.

You really have to see the Swift's boot to believe it :-) But at the other extreme, if you want sacrifice the entire boot, you can do wonders with it. Just check out low_bass_makker's garage.

35w RMS x 2 amp driving two 30w RMS speakers sounds fine. Perfect, actually. Only, you should be careful to set the gains of the amp so the speakers don't distort at full volume. BTW, I hope you intend to amp the front speakers and not the rear speakers.

lol, Hello "Old One". You are correct. JBL India does not market the BasslinkII. Sorry.

Hi to All BHPians,

I am new to Team BHP. Came to know about this Site from Google while searching.
Let me first introduce myself. My name is Vipul residing in New Delhi. By profession i am Mechanical Engineer working in MNC.

Recently I purchased Suzuki Swift Vxi, and now planning to install Audio system. My budget is around Rs 15000/-. My choice is Blaupunkt. Could any one tell me which head unit and speakers are best in Blaupunkt considering my budget. I would appreciate if anyone having experience with Blaupunkt would like to share it.

- Vipul

Hi and welcome to team-bhp.
Congrats on your Swift purchase.

There're plenty of Swift installs discussed already. And some of them are exactly of your criteria, I think.
Also go through the Sticky thread ; Car audio systems on various budget. This will give you a better idea of what can be done and what not in your budget.

Regarding Blaupunkt, it's a high reputed brand and their products are good. Some of their HUs have good VFM. Their quality has fallen somewhat these days. But still very much considerable when making decisions.

Please look into other brands like JBL, Hertz, Kenwood etc.. As they make some good products in your price range.

Welcome to T-BHP, vipul!

Blau makes good head units. But for everything else there are better choices now. They do make good speakers, subs, amps etc., but for those really serious about sound there are better choices. But for service support, Blau is the best, period. So I would back Blau all the way as a choice for your HU.

For 15k:
Blau Mumbai MP26 (7.5K).
Speakers: Hertz DSK165s front and back OR JBL CS2165s front and back. (Hertz will exceed your budget a little, but will be worth it. JBLs should keep you within budget -- well maybe 1k extra).

If you want to spend say 5k more and take the budget to 20K you will have a lot more good models (in HERTZ and JBL) to add to your choices and a lot more flexibility for upgradation later. You can get a better HU too. Most importantly, you will be able to use component speakers in front, which will improve the sound immensely.

The "What ICE & at What Price" thread is also a good reference for prices and setups: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-en...hat-price.html

Enjoy your time here. :-)

Nice to see this thread is merged.

Vipul,
Please read some posts above your first post to get more ideas of swift installs.

Hi,

A friend of mine has got himself a new swift zxi and is planning to get his ICE done this weekend. Since he has consulted me and i need to suggest him something best for the budget, please help me out.

Have gone through the exhaustive threads but still need some opinion on this.

Budget: 20 to 23K ( he said 20 K but i can convince for a few more)
Music taste: He likes good music but not that keen n the nuances. I bet he wouldnt complain if it is slightly bright also.

What i have in Mind:

Front Comps: JBL 6.5 inch ( 5 to 6 K??)
Rear Coax : JBL 6.5 inch ( 3 to 3.5 K??)
Head Unit: ??? Not sure at this point and need valuable inputs
wiring kit : A decent one for maybe 2 to 2.5K ( Pls suggest a decent one)
place of instal: Auto Fusion

Was thinking of suggesting Pioneer 6850 but am not aware of any new models which come with a USB port. I think that would be a major plus.

My questions

1) Alpine 9851 is a decent headunit but retails well above 12K and would push the budget. Does it sell cheap or alpine 9847 can also be considered.
2) Are there any decent USB headunits that sell for arnd 10K. I read abt kenwood having a lot of models but not the other manufacturers.
3) Does the setup require a 2 channel amp to make the front comps sound better. If Yes,how much does the JBL 2 channel amp retail.
4) Should future upgrades to a sub amp combi also be considered while choosing the Headunit. He may go for this in the future.
5) Are there any other speaker combi worth checking out other than JBL. I know that the autofusion guy pushes the Boston speakers to an extent.

All suggestions with prices are welcome.

1) Alpine quality is not what it used to be.
2) Yeah, Kenwood is a good HUand has USB and quite a few people think it sounds pretty good.
3) 2 channel amp is good, 4 chanel amp is better. Drive the fronts and the rears with the amplifier. Later, if at all he can use 2 chanels to bridge for a sub (IF at all). JBL 2 ch amp costs 5990/-, 4 ch. starts at 8990/-
4) 3 covers 4 too
5) Boston is quite a good brand of speaker too.

1. It's better to avoid Alpines for now. It's expensive and there are better sounding and better quality HUs available in the market.

2.
I would suggest you to get the Panasonic 5301. This HU has almost every nice features we can count on hand. If you want to check it out, go to Preeetham at sound factor, Lavelle road. He has some special offer running now on this HU. It doesn't have USB though. Aux in is available.

3. 4channel amp!! Even if it's a Sony or a Pioneer, you should get a 4channel amp with the setup.

5. My opinion is to avoid Bostons for now too.

Your friend's musical taste!
I appreciate his taste towards warm, lush music than brighter kinds.
Keeping this in mind, I'll suggest you to listen to Hertz. They're less brighter than JBL to my ears. Go to Sprocket in Koramangala to audition all these different brands of speakers at one GO!!

Get JBL wiring kit. If you want to go more higher, then get Audison.

You've approached the right person for the install.

Congrats on your (friend's) install and keep us updated with the pics.
