I have narrowed down on Pioneer 6950IB & 5050UB both priced at 7200/-(Grey) Goa.
Kindly suggest which one to go for.

@rajujey, for a passive sub install, under the seat of a Swift, this could give you some ideas:

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/ask-gu...-swift-10.html

(Page 10, post #140)

That's an 8" ID8 D4V3 under the Swift's driver's seat.

My best guess would be to use an 8" or 10" Illusion Lucent. Given that it's magnet is in front of the cone it has a shallower depth than most subs and should fit. the 8" might make more sense than the 10" as the box size is not going to be very large.

Navin,

I got a similar install in my swift, but lacking some elements. Pioneer HU, JBL components (tweeters mounted at Pillars) at front doors and JBL co-axials (2 way) at rear doors. A 12" Blau sealed box sub powered by an amp.

Let me tell you about the 'bad' components I have, which I am planning to upgrade gradually. Need advice on these. Please keep in mind something budget oriented not hifi

HU - It is the normal Pio DEH3790. Planning an upgrade (most probably an import from gulf by sis)

All speakers (Compos and co-axials) driven by HU only. Need a 4 ch amp, do I? Which one ?

The Blau sub is driven by a poor amp (got by a deal). Planning to get Blau 275 from JK. How good it will be considering it is only for the Blau sub?

Can anybody let me know the price of GTO607c Compos and GT5-652s?

How to make sure these are genuine? Any pointers

Hi guys,
need some help
Your Car: Swift
Your current setup (If any):none
Your Budget: 15k to 20k
Do you drive most of the time or is it chauffer driven?:self
Your Music preferences (Genres, favorite artists, etc.): classical, instruments, pop, rock( no loud or bright music)
I dont want something with sub and all. But i would prefer high SQ.

I am planning to go for HU and front comp speakers for now with this budget.
Later i intend to put in the rear ones.

Can you please suggest a good HU and the front comp speakers.
Do i need to put an amp as well ?

HU - Alpine, Blaupunkt, Kenwood or Pioneer (7-10K).

Components - Infinity 6020c, Blaupunkt Vc172, Hertz ESK165, Illusion Luccent etc. (7-10K)

You can add amp and rear speakers later.

Make sure you audition the sets before committing yourself to buy.

you can get a good 4 ch. amp for about 7K. THere are many from companies like Kenwood, Pioneer, JBL and Blaupunkt in the market.

The PA275 is a decent class D amp. I use myself to power my 12" sub.

PM Sam for anything on JBL.

Gautam, I got a JBL Compos fitted in the front. Nice tweeters installed in the Dash. For the rear a coax 6x9. Got the rear one installed in a separate Parcel tray. The fitment looks great. The HU is a pio 4050 which is USP/IPOD compatible. Overall its good!
I got the above fitted (Grey) for 14K inclusive of installation charges n the parcel tray. I guess its arnd Rs 500 - 750 on the higher side, but the fitment is just perfect. I really love the audio setup . The shop is Leo audio located in royapettah.

Incidentally, the going rate for JBL GTO 607c (Grey Maal) in GP Road, Chennai is 3600/- if you bargain hard. At those prices, its a serious steal, a risk worth taking!

Help Required

Hello

I was finalizing the requirements with my installer today and when i told him that i would need a 4 channel amplifier to drive the front compos as well as the subwoofer, he was of the opinion that a monoblock amplifier for the subwoofer alone would suffice the need. He is telling me that front compos doesnt necessarily require an amplifier to drive them but they can be driven directly the HU. He is also assuring me that the sound quality would not be compromised by this setup and this would be an economical option too. Im confused by his statement, I told him i would get back to him with the way to go, and hence thought of seeking your valuable suggestions here. Thanks in advance

Regards
Bala

2 different schools of thought!

IMHO the installer's suggestion will make the system bass-heavy even at moderately loud volumes, since the components would not be able to get enough power out of the HU amp (and distorted at that). Result - unbalanced sound, like mrudangam drowning out Balamuralikrishna's voice! Such a system will be good only for Hip-hop.

Putting an amp for the components is about giving the speaker a lot of dynamic headroom (ability to handle soft AND loud passages without distorting) to play music naturally. The sub, on the other hand, needs an amp to function normally, since the HU does not produce sufficient power in the low frequency band to be able to generate loud enough lows. If the sub AND the fronts were to be on the external amp, even at higher volumes the front components will not distort.
