Zahir,
Since you have a plan for the sub, why are you going for ovals on parcel tray? Swift has very good factory locations for speakers and you can go for 6.5 co-ax at rear door location. They will act as good rear fills, especially when you amp them. IMHO rear round co-ax at door locations + sub will be sounding much nicer than ovals on parcel tray and sub just beneath it. To my best knowledge, almost all the TBHP people who are good at ICE have this combination when there's a sub. If you were not going for a sub, the ovals can be better.
One more sugestion - if you are not that 'boom boom' type and need good tight bass, go for a sealed box with 12" sub, not the bass tube. Sealed box will be sounding more on SQ wise, take little bit lesser space than tube (a good quality branded woofer needs only .75 to 1 ft cube). As per my knowledge, a sealed box is the best bet when it matters space and SQ. Again, as I stated above, most of the TBHP quality ICE are using sealed boxes.
A good set of comps can cost you 5K onwards (JBL, Illusion etc) and co-axs 3-4K. Amps also starts from 6-7K (JBL, Blau, Kenwood etc).
Consider quality cables, wires and install. If budget permits do a minor damping too, atleast for front doors. It will cost 3-4K.
IMO oval speakers on MDF fixed parcel tray + subwoofer = no dicky space.
as redfire suggested forget the ovals
Redfire & magma have covered it.
If you want a semi decent setup then 6x9" & sub is not happening. The sound gets muddy and sloppy.
Money saved on the Rearfil/6x9" must and should be allocated to damping in the front doors.
Can I ask a dumb koshun? My VDi's kept me happy in the short time I've had it.
No rattling so far :p
Can ICE installation cause rattles to originate? :D Please enlighten.

Improper installation, a big sub and inadequate damping can aggravate rattles.
Hello Guys,
Mu LDI will be delievered on 2nd DEC, today i went to Maruti showroom to make the payment for my swift. While i was waiting for the formalities to be done, i cheacked on some STEREO systems. Obviously MGA are expensive than market but i quite liked the Maruti Intigrated (COMPANY FITTED) one , this is the same stereo maruti has launced with its high end models (ZXI).
As per the sales guy, its cost is 10490 (Head unit only). It looks Great.
Please suggest about the sound quality for the stereo, i wish to install sony speakers (not sure about the model number but the front one is for 1700 rs and Rear one for 3700). Also, maruti guys told me that if i go for installation from anyone other than MGA, my car's warranty would be void.
Please suggest whether i should go for this one or stick to sony/Pioneer as everyone does.
Thank in Advance please: suggest

Mr. Rambo, if I tell you the truth you promise not to hit me? :-)
1. Dont touch Sony speakers, there are better things you can do with you money some of which are not printable.
2. The stock HU does not have pre out and for that 10K that is robbery. You could get a similar HU for under 5K from Pioneer or JVC and for a bit more you could get a killer HU. Do you have a pic of the stock HU you are talking about?
@ Rambo - Navinji has cleared your doubts, I hope. Never ever go for stereo from Maruti and Sony speakers. The items displayed in their showcase with MGA labels will be tempting, but there are 100s of better, professional options there outside. 10K for their HU?? As Navinji said it is robbery! The HU which they provide is only worth 2-3K and doesn't have any advanced functions. Go to a well known installer in your town, select your equipments and do a professional installation.
Check our Sound off-show off and other threads for installation and general idea about setups. Or you can come back here for suggestions.
Fix your max budget first.
You'd be better off buying the Vista Aura HU, or from ZXi owners who'd dispose their 2din units to upgrade :D
Its big, but passable at best. And DONT, I repeat, DONT land up at a TBHP recommended installer without drawing a lakshman rekha of a budget. there are a lot of lakh(ICE)man's here :D

Thanks for OPENING my eyes Mates, u saved my money and a lot of disappointment. Will get the pic tomorrow , i will go to the showroom and click for you :).
Just an F.Y.I , my second question is still unanswered:-
will the warranty of my car will be void if i get the stereo installed from outside?
My budget is 20k for stereo.
And please forgive me guys if i am trying to be kiddish, I am 24 and have worked real hard to get this car on my own money and that's the reason i want everything to be perfect.
Once again. Thanks for replying, i really appreciate your valuable feed backs.

Hello,
Have a pic from internet, if that will do the job. :)
And yes, the brand is alpine.
Please suggest.
Thanks!

1. No. Not if you use a proper harness make sure your installer uses the correct harness and does not just chop and tie the wires together.
2. 20K is a good budget. It will get you a good HU as well as 4 good speakers; why you can even afford even components in the front.
3. I am well past 24, for that matter I am well past 42 too :-( and may or may not have worked as hard as you
but I too like my audio to be as perfect as is practical. :-)

My old eyes cant tell what the HU is from here.
Greetings to all!
Got delivery of a VDi recently and now a bit of time to concentrate on getting ICE installed. A dealer in Mangalore has suggested the following setup -
Pioneer 3050 HU with USB - Rs 6500
JBL GTO 608C for front door - Rs 4800
JBL GTO 637 for rear door - Rs 3500
JBL GTO 60.4 Amp - Rs 6500
At this point in time, I am not keen on adding a sub - may be sometime later.
All the above are without bill, but he says warranty will be covered (6 months for speakers/ amp and 1 year for HU). If I want a bill, 12% tax gets added.
Sop offered is free installation.
Your expert views on the above will certainly help me take a decision. Thanks in advance.

@johnrambo, that is a Nippon HU. It sounds pretty bad with the stock speakers. I suffered it for about 3 months in my Swift ZXi. Maybe it will sound slightly better with aftermarket speakers, but I'd suggest you give this one a miss, and pickup a regular Single-Din HU from Kenwood/Blau/Alpine/JVC/Pioneer instead.
20K is a good budget for a HU + front & rear speakers setup:
HU: 10K
6.5" 2-way components in front: 6K
6.5" 2-way coaxials in back: 4K.

Hi Sudhir,
Welcome and Congrats on getting the New VDi. The choice of equipment is good, but I feel that the prices are some what on higher side if they are from the grey market. I think you can pay another 5% on each of them to get them with Bill and Warranty (Free peace of mind). I think at that price you can get a higher end HU from Pioneer. Since you are planning for an AMP then you will have to consider for good cabling both for the RCA interconnects as well the Amp power kit. You will have to budget even for that.
Hope you will have to wait for some time, get to know what you want and the right price for each of them and then decide on them.
Happy Driving and ICEing.Raju
