I would be getting my Swift Zxi next week. I have been waiting for it for more then 2 months now. ICE is something i really need to take care of in future. For now I am going to use the OEM HU. I wanted to know what if I just change the rear speakers for now. Will that make any difference??

I have been following the SX4 audio thread cause the HU are the same for it and Swift Zxi. I am planning or might change the rear speakers to JBL power series.

Should I change it now or wait until I am getting my ICE done? ICE upgrade would haappen only after 8-12 months.

Please advise !

:thumbs up

Still waiting for someone to answer my query. I heard that its better to change the front speakers to front component rather then changing the rear speakers for now. What do you guys suggest ??

Thanks !!

:thumbs up

Put 6" Component Speaker in front door.

Later - put 6" Component or Co-axil in rear door.

hi everyone

i'm planning to ICE my new Swift pretty soon (getting it next week) and have been going through the forum and talking to some friends.

Plan so far
HU: Pioneer 4090
Front: Hertz HSK 165 components
Rear: Hertz HCX 690 co-axials
Damping on front doors only
I don't want a sub-woofer because I want to preserve my
boot space.

Very confused on the amp. Dont want to spend too much. Some people are recommending Kenwood.
Say it is good value for money and trouble free

any comments ? on Kenwood as an amp ?

If you are looking for a amp just for ur compos and coaxials then Kenwood 8401 is a gud buy. VFM product and comes quite cheap (less than 5K)

Hi Mushroomz, If you want to do an ICE upgrade 8-12 months down the line, then I think it would be better to change the rear speakers at the time of the upgrade. Since I don't think the stock OEM HU (Nippon or Kenwood) will have that much juice to run the power series. I was having the Kenwood M5029 (which was Maruti MGA) which didn't impress me running my GTO series speakers. So I feel you will also feel the same way I felt until I went for a better HU. May be if you have Pre-outs in HU then consider going for a 4 - channel VFM amp initially. I think the speakers are also from Kenwood. Its always better you have good speakers in front where you will be spending most of the time and then change to good speakers at rear during the ICE upgrade later.

Thanks a lot Bhagwan and vrrraju for the prompt reply. I think the OEM HU has just one pre-out. I would think about it and just install the front components for the time being. :)

1) I have a similar setup to what you're planning. - same speakers, Alpine HU. In an indica. I say try it without an amp first, if you Feel like you need an amp, get it , but IMHO, the speakers perform quite well without an amp.
2) why not the Pioneer 4050 (grey) - its cheaper. alternately, if you want to buy with B/W , try out the Alpine 9870 ( what i have) It has better SQ, but doesnt have aux in/USB in. only connects to iPod.

3) you might have trouble getting hold of Hertz speakers. BBW has stopped distributing them, and very few stocks are left

Im going to be in the US for a couple of weeks and was thinking of picking up a HU, compnents and amp for my Swift as the prices wiill be much cheaper compared to India. I was thinking of picking up the Pioneer AVH P4000DVD for around $380 from buy.com and was wondering which would be the best component speaker setup for the HU. I was thinking of spending about $500-700 on speakers, amp and subwoofer and would like recommendations on that as well if its not too much trouble . If you have any better recommendation on the head unit please feel free to give youre opinion. Thanks in advance!!

Indian prices for many brands are quite competitive to US prices.

If you are intending to by from the US consider 6.5" component speakers fom Polk Momo (not db), Boston Pro, Alpine Pro etc for about $300 per pair

and a 5 channel amp from Infinity (5350 @ $300), Blaupunkt (THA 555 @ $450) as a single 5 ch. amp will be easier to carry back.

Ok! After a LOOOT of reading I've kinda narrowed my options but still not completely sure yet. Here's what im thinking....

HU: AVH-P4000DVD

Fronts: Polk Momo MMC6500

Rears: Polk Momo MMC650(2 way coax)/ MMC690(3 way coax)
MMC6500 again in the rear?

Sub: no clue really but looking at IDQ12v2($150-200) and IDQ12v3($500). Is there a huge difference between the two versions? Any other recommendations?
Looking to get really tight, punchy bass. What kind of box should I be looking at? The smaller the better unless smaller compromises sound quality.

Amp: Really need recommendations....have no idea what to get! 4 channel + mono? HELP!

well i'm quite new to TB and need some help on my swifts ICE but i've some points here

1. i've a normal pioneer HU with 4 speakers thats it.my HU dosent have settings for HI+ or LO+ (i.e. hi and low frequencies) its only equipped with bass, tre, sla, bal, fad, mid thats it.

2. rear speakers are 9" by 6" pioneer 3-way and front 6" in the door.

3. i do not have any tweets nor an amp. nothing else.

4. the present system sounds just about OK average dosent give me the thump. :Frustrati

5. now listen to this-my friend got a new swift,he installed the same HU but that HU has options of HI+ and LO+ its 1 step advanced than mine. speakers r jbl gto 937 which sound nice that thump is there and same 6" on the front doors his system sounds really good! loved it.

6. very important part!- i DO NOT want to install an amp. so sub-woofer is out of question. jus a basic 4 speaker system which will give me that basic thump! end of topic

7 my question- should i install jbl gto 937 and the jbl 6" at the front?? will the same HU help those speakers to give me that thump? and i just want to change my speakers thats it.

8. budget-8k to 10 k for just 4 speakers.

9. i'm situated in pune-where should i install it? bafana on ghole rd? suggest me something good and fair.

First of all, why don't you give us the model number of the HU you have? It should be located somewhere on the face of it.
If you cannot find it, then how about posting a picture of it?
That'll solve lots of mystery.

Ofcourse, JBL makes better speakers that Pioneer. But your's may be just a problem with the HU settings. So, the number please.

Hey All,

On the process of getting a Swift VDi.

With a help of a friend I have shortlisted the following. I would appreciate views from all and also the best possibilities of having it fixed in Kolkata - details of reliable and trust worthy outlet details would be appreciated.

So here goes -
HU : Pioneer DEH 5090
Speakers : JBL GTO637 & GTO607C
Amplifier : Kenwood KAC-8401
Damping : ?

I would need suggestions on wiring. Subwoofer is a complete NO-NO as I do not want to kill the already small boot of the swift.

Thanks
Indra

Hi all,
first of all i would like to introduce myself. i'm from bangalore. i regularly read this thread though i have least knowledge bout ICE. I try to gain knowledge from all the ICE gurus and make a note of point which might be useful for me or my friends while setting up ICE for music on there beauty.

I had ford ikon before which i sold it last year due to some personal reason and bought zen LX. I ditched even this beauty to buy the next vehicle.

I got my car delivered on sunday.. A Bright red Swift Vxi. havent gone foe a long drive yet but would like to install ICE on it yet again. I will give the brief description of ICE i had installed on my previous car.

On Ford Ikon(Forgive me as i dont remember the model numbers).

Sony HU..(it was just average. all those stuff.. reading and then error.)
sony rear speakers.
sound stream component speakers. (was too good and this was the only thing i liked on my car when i think of whole setup).
sony 4 channel AMP.
SOny 1200 watts sub.

On Zen Car:
Pioneer HU.
JBL component speakers.
JBL rear speakers,.
JBL GTO series AMP 4 channel.
JBL sub.

since i sold my car with whole setup.

Now actually i had a query regarding the ICE setup on Swift Vxi. PLease give valuable advise as the zen setup was dont only after reading comments of ICE gurus here.

I got a quotation for the system. But after reading so many posts i feel this guy is doing a day light robbery. neways only you people can comment. so here i go with the price list.bangy guys please let me know if it is worth.

Pioneer 7090 B/w--14800/-
pioneer 7050 without B/W--11,800/-
Pioneer 6050 without b/w--8900/-
Infinity component speakers 6020cs without B/W- 5600/-
Infinity 9623 rear speakers - 5400 without B/w- 5400/-
3M sun film (5) - 2800/- with 2 yrs warranty
3M windshield sun film - 5200/- with 2 yrs warranty.

And rear speaker plank and wiring etc.

PLease let me know whether this is reasonable price in bangy and also if you suggest some good speakers. which is economical. i dont mind shelling out another 2 or 3k but at this point of time after investing for new car im left with only few notes. as and when money pours in will do the next upgrade.

thanks.

@Mods:If this is not the correct place to post my query please do the needful.:):)

Hi Indra (have replied to your introduction post, see that),
Your choice of equipments are good and vfm/budget products. I am using similar setup in my Swift - 4050 HU, 607c comps at front, GT5-652 co-ax at rear doors + sub. Comps and sub powered by amps. If you are not planning a sub, you can check 6X9" speakers also for rear (parcel tray mount) which will give a decent bass. Also fyi - GTO 7 series (607) have stopped by JBL and new 8 series (608) have launched. It would be with dealers by the time you get your car (have already installed in Blore). Since it is a new design with modified crossover (courtesy - Sam) you can go for that.

For damping go for noisekill. Its Rs 150 per sq ft and a good vfm product. Have used in my front doors. Go for good quality amp kit/RCA/speaker wires like illusion speaker cables/Ground zero ampkit/fuses etc. We have very good ICE installations with our Kolkotta friends. Go and see them/audition before you finalise.
