yes they are not cheap but in the long run it pays to have good parts. certainly for what they offer (service and product) they are not expensive.
What spec of tranny did you get and how much did you pay?

Meanwhile, my quest for the right amp for my subs continues.

I have two Infinity subs, 300W RMS each, 90dB and 4 ohm each. I was looking for something like a 250W+250W or something in that region.

I was thinking if I get an inexpensive PA amp, I will go for it. But I am also interested in building if I find the proper circuit. The amps I am interested in are Quasi's BJT power amp (300Wx4 ohm) or the Leach amp (200Wx4 ohm). The problem is finding genuine semiconductors. Both use MJ15003 and MJ15004.

hi deralte,

do you mean to say the price is all right? yes i picked 1 piece for 100 rupees. actually i bought two of them for 100 each. and i got an alcon 50v 10000ufd electrolytic for around 150 rupees. i compared the elna cap with the data sheet and everything seems to be consistent. but there is quite alot of difference between the Elna and the alcon(is it a good cap?) the alcon is a little more than double in size and is double the weight of the Elna cap but i think the elna is consistent with its data sheet. ill weigh the caps on my digital scale and compare it with the data sheet.

thanks

I have used Alcon 10,000uF, 50V capacitors for several years without any problems.

I had a PA amp capable of 800 watts RMS at 2 ohms but it was not so good when driving subs. It was a bit different and sounded dull.

For the above MOSFET they have quite good switching and power handling also..will check here if I get the originals.

Is that a DIY amp or readymade? That looks like a double-sided PCB.

No sir it was a ready made one.

the PCB is single sided but the components are mounted on the side which had the tracks, also there were no component on the other side.

I think you told me that this amp cost you about 30K or something like that. Is this the one?

This was sometime ago. I forget the specs but on is available on the "EL34 schematic confusion" thread at diyaudio.

Omishra, which amp did you build and how much power does it put out?
I build "Amp1" from there site and designed DC detect and speaker cut offs relays, slow start timers. It totally cost me around ~10K total. Cabinet - I got from Thialand (I guess) cost me ~4500Rs. I am using it max 65Watt RMS/ channel. As this PWM amp efficiency is upto 90%. And audio quality is of audiophile grade. I tested using 4ohm piece from heater coil + speaker in parallel (with 100ohm resistor in series of speaker). That time I was living in Bangalore. Yes it delivered the power to get paint off walls from old house.
Here is some dirty work by me, but I cleaned it later (not in photo)
41Hz Audio Forum

You have big power requirement then look at "trupath" from them.

omishra, I can't see any of the photos. The site asks for a password when I try to go to your photo album.

And yes, I was looking for more power.
