This time its, A SPL UPGRADE.....

Hi all,

Officially declaring. yes, i am having a major ICE upgrade (bass). And this time its pure SPL.

I had a pair of JBL GT4-15 and a GTO601.1 amp to go with it. Sold them, and got a decent price.

Now......i am gonna disclose the secret some time next month. As for the sizes, this time i am getting a pair of 12" woofers + new mono amp.

Guesses please, and let me see if i am at par with the SPL suggestions of fellow team-bhpians.

Already ordered for the subs and the amp.

Note: There are a few bhpians who have knowledge of what i am getting. So its my humble request to them.....please do not revile anything.

Lets have a boom time in this thread

SPL! It's not everyday we get to see people actually doing a proper SPL setup. Wow!! (applause).

Other than the monoblock and the subs, could you please reveal what all you have done for this SPL setup? Damping, extra power, caps etc...
Being an SPL setup, I guess you're going in for a bandpass setup. That produces some heavy thump than other kinds. Dual bandpass with 2 12 inchers! Wow! I can almost feel it now.

Please! Spill it out baba.

Well, i would spill it out sloooooooowly.

Wirings: 0 gugae.
Box: Ported (Both subs in the same box having a common backfiring port in the center).
Damping: Complete car damping. (Will include the roof and the floor as well).
Electricals: BIG 3 upgrade.
Battery: Getting a performance battery. Costs a bomb.
External bass control knob.

Well, the installer strongly suggested not to install the stuff in a sedan type vehicle, as it'll be hard for it to bear. The guy suggested a SUV type or a big hatchback. But cant afford a new vehicle for audio ...so only option is to get it damped A-Z.

Will be installing it in Hyundai Accent CRDi.
Box style is gonna be same as seen on youtube videos for a pair of kicker L715.

No....no....hints.....i am not getting the Kicker L7 atleast.

Amit, do help us guess:

1) Are you importing the maal?
2) How much (approx) are you spending on the 2 subs? And how much (approx) are you spending on the amp?
3) Where are you importing them from? (If you are)

This will help us make better guesses, rather than just make wild guesses

Are you sure your 12" woofer will displace significantly more air than the 15"?
Please do a back of the evenlope Sd x Xmax calculation.

Also I think you mean "reveal" not "revile".

Wiring is part of Big 3. In fact the BIG 3 relates to wiring only. alos does not the HU have the ability to control bass level?

smart hydrashok!!!
Ask me the prices and everthing and off u guess it right.

Chalo anyways,

1) Yes, aapunka maal bahar se aa rella.
2) .......price dont ask. I know bhpians are smart enough to guess stuff from its price. But definitely costing big in India.
3) Stuff getting imported from US.

Navin ji sorry...started the thread at 1:00 in the night....toh reveal ka revile hogaya

Air displacement of the 15" is more than the 12". But the problem is that a box size of a single 15" will be very hard to fit in the boot of accent. Two 12" woofer box might just make space into the boot. But that will be tight too.
