Hi catchvinny
The choice you are considering is the best. If you plan to add - Front, Rear Speaker and a Sub , then go for 6539 since it has 3 pre-outs and will give better controls on the sub.
But if you plan front speaker+Rear Speaker or Front Speaker+Sub, better go for 5039.
Regarding speakers it's better to go for components. You can find JBL components in the T-bhp classifieds for 3k.

Well if you really don't want a sub (for now) then even an amp will be helpful for the controls and for further upgrades also as you are now in the Forum, hehe. JBL components will do the job as far as front sound stage is concerned and for rear you can go for JBL GTO937 if you can find can't say much about GTO938 also try auditioning Bull. heard lot about Bull these days. they sound good. Try keep a good amount aside for HU so you don't go feeling upgrading it. ALL THE BEST.

BULL in bangalore?

Can anybody here tell me where can i audition the BULL in bangalore?

It would be great if there is a place to audition kenwood + bull and kenwood + JBL. That way I would be able to make out the difference.

Also people who have already auditioned BULL vs JBL, are free to make some suggestions over pros and cons.

Urgent help!

iKON Tdci need decent set up with good base, budget ideally 20k. This is for a colleague and close friend.

How is this config and please suggest model and price (JBL preferred).

Pio HU - Please suggest decent one with USB

Front Components - JBL's preferred, any particular model that will fit in?

Rear oval - Again preference for JBL

Amp 4 channel - connected to rear ovals and sub OR front comp + Sub and Ovals to HU? Suggest better set up please.

Sub woofer - Model no? Also can we fix it to the rear tray to avoid a box in the boot (boot space concerns). Can go for a box if quality is being compromised.
help maadi. Need to get performa and submit it soon.

To give you an idea, here is the basic ICE setup I've done in my brothers Palio MJD.

Pioneer DEH-4190 SD @ Rs. 9800 (Supports SD card which was a requirement)
HERTZ DSK-130 Components @ Rs.4200
HERTZ DCX-690 @ Rs.3500
Miscellaneous (MDF Plank, Connectors, Antenna): Rs. 1000

All above with Bill and Warranty (Except Misc). Though Dieci series is the cheapest Hertz speakers that you can buy, I'm mighty impressed by their quality and performance.

The prices above may be a little on the high side. I was running short of time and couldn't spend much time to see if I can source them cheaper at other places. Comments are welcome to know how much extra money I've sacrificed for lack of time.

Putting the sub on the rear shelf will need some cutting-shutting, so putting a smaller (10") would be preferable. This would also mean you have to get the work done from an installer who knows his job well. Try Anwar.

If a sub is being put in, round coax will do instead of the ovals. Drive them from the HU, since the other 2 channels of the 4-ch amp would be used for the sub in bridged mode.

Don't compromise on the front components. Does Ikon have 5.25" stock location in front door?

Pioneer also has USB in front in the 2xxx, 3xxx and 4xxx series.

Thanks guys, i shall follow your advice.

iKon has smaller speakers size as stock and IIRC 5.25 should fit in. I put in the higher end HU for invoice sake (higher side). Will ask him to check out the 2, 3 ,4 series also.

So Front and Sub woofer from Amp, rear speakers from HU.

ps: How do i contact Anwar, is he the same guy near Koramanagala club?

The 2x , 3x series is not too good.
You'll be better off with a 5190 if available for ~7k. Its a decent HU.

Any obvious failings / problems, Abhinav?

Jaggu, check the Prices of HUs thread in the Products section for grey and with b&w prices of Pio HUs.

Also, Thouqeer - Anwar's partner and a TBHP member - can be contacted if Anwar is not around at Auto Fusion.

Not any failings / problems.
I have heard similar setups with 3x, 4x and 5x series HUs. The 3x and 4x were not able to do justice with the setup. I have always told my friends not to compromise on the HU but then no one understands.

The Vocals in the 5x series are much better and with almost the same placement of tweeters, the 5190 had a better soundstage as well as highs ( though typical pioneer signature) were sounding better as compared to the 3x, 4x series.

I myself have 3150UB hu in my Honda city and had changed to the 5050 and a 6050 one day. They are much better than the 3150.

Also as per my info, the price difference in the 4x and 5x series is not much and hence makes much more sense to go for 5190ub
